........because some people want to go with the flow and others like to be on the edge. He seemed to be interested in going with the flow and you are a poor role model for someone intending to go with the flow. Mango
What I don't get is the big fuss over gimmicks, msg board personalities, posting style, etc etc. Having some posters coach others and telling them how their experience was is funny as well. The way this whole thing deteriorates is simply pathetic and almost makes you wish that post counts didn't even exist. I apologize for bringing up the worst cliche of the 90's, but here it is: Have a take, and don't suck. Translated into the real world: 1. Try to contribute to the discussion. 2. Doing it in a format that is easy to read and understand is even better. 3. And finally, don't hijack threads!!! (See Gutter Snipe's post in this thread as a perfect example of that.) Btw, I'd say lose Walt and keep Langhi. If Rudy can't find a way to develop a quick 6'11 shooter, we really need to get riddy of Rudy.
Thanks Gutter Snipe, for getting this thread back on track. I'd like to keep Langhi as well. He's only played in 66 games his first two years & this stretch is the longest sustained stretch he's played thus far. He's played in 17 of the last 20 games & has shown some flashes of his potential lately. He's hustling all over & appears to be gaining confidence with the increased playing time. The one thing that I've seen flashes of, is his rebounding abilities. The guy can flat-out out leap most of the post players. He's not afraid to get into the middle & go for the rebounds. As for those that say Rudy won't use him, it seems to me that Rudy is taking a long look at him right now. It's make or break time for Langhi & I think he's stepping up. His inconsistency can be directly attributed to his lack of consistent playing time. He's still learning. There's a big difference between practice & an actual game. Also, I doubt that Rudy would hold a grudge against a player that wanted to play so bad, he was willing to be put into the doghouse for saying play me or trade me.
I, too, hope Langhi gets another chance next year. He has some abilities that could be developed into reliable weapons. Getting back off-track: I wish posters would quit evaluating and critiquing other posters. The vote is in the response or lack thereof. Let people think for themselves. Getting back on-track: Go Langhi!
To all -- I apologize for being the source of this controversy. It was certainly not my intent. All I want to do is share in the Rockets' glory, commiserate in their defeats, find out the latest team and NBA news, discuss the best possible ways to improve the Rockets and, in general, have fun with people of a like mind. Thanks for the support one and all from ZRB to Manny Ramirez, and thanks for the welcome aboard, Hottoddie. BTW, was there ever a vote tally on Dan Langhi?
I think NIKE has the answer. Unless the Rockets trade up in the draft (only 1 guaranteed instead of 2) , trade down into the second round (which is not guaranteed), move one of the listed contracts or (I'm biting my tongue) have another MoT type injury, Langhi is the odd-man out. I would think he could play SF and some SG for some NBA team. He will be a better fit for a passing team which plays good team D. I hear the Heat are thinking about getting younger.
It just seems to me that many still have not understood the concept of depth. The team should be in a position that if a top player is out for the season or an extended time, knock on wood, we still make the playoffs, kinda like Sacramento.
Another look at Langhi for what?? He sucks! I already know he sucks, so I don't need to see him riding the pine, demanding a trade(bwaaahahahaha!!!) and taking court time from another player that might actually be able to contribute something to this team(ie. Tierre Brown or Terrence Morris) to come to the final conclusion that he sucks.
I knew there had to be something more to this thread than the fate of Dan Langhi's career... Here's a joke for you - how can you tell when the Rockets suck?
Well I forgot all about this thread. I was just skimming through the Rockets forum and I see "Has Langhi earned another look next year?" became a 2 pager, and I ask myself "How the hell did a Langhi thread become a 2 pager?" Well now I know... I might have been harsh in saying the "normal human being" part, the post wasn't meant to be venemous or anything. I just thought the whole "thumbs up, thumbs down" thing was rather dumb, so I thought I'd make a brief post directed towards thumbs. If he replied with "Thumbs down to you BGM, I'll post however the hell I want to!" I wouldn't even bother with a reply and he can go on his merry "thumbs up, thumbs down" way. I mean for a while, people were complaining about LAFade's signature length, he still hasn't changed it and no one even complains about it anymore. If thumbs wants to continue his trademark, then go ahead... I'm kind of bothered by the "whiney" and "clown" comments, are you guys referring to me or Manny? I mean I could understand Manny since he's Manny... But moi? A whiney clown? I'm crushed...:*(
When we are discussing on the same day the merits of Mr. Deer in Headlights Dan Langhi and Mr. I Have No Left Tierre Brown.
If I were Langhi, I would burn off with the quickness. I saw a couple of plays against Portland when Franic in the middle and Langhi and mobley on the wing in a 3 on 2 break. Langhi was butt naked going to the hoop and Francis kicked it out to mobley for a 3pt attempt. You could see the disgust in his face and the selfish play is just crazy. I think he could be a pretty decent player with the right team. This team at its present state isn't a good fit.
Langhi sucks!! He has played in the last 10 games and played good in one of them. If he is a good scorer, he would find ways to score, but he doesn't. Plus, this teams needs someone who can play defense - our defense is terrible.
Maybe thumbs should be giving lessons on how to post, instead of taking them. One more year for Langhi.
