Just a feeling on my part based on the things Kubiak has said about Plummer ever since he was benched. Nothing more.
That has to be the quote of the year. Hell, the Texans can triple thier wins from last year and still suck donkey balls. I knight you BMoney, sunshine pumper number 2, you may rise.
The Texans have won 1/4 of the games they need to have a perfect season!!! If you take the square root of our wins, you get last year's total of wins!!! Let me know when they schedule the parade.
Huh??? They WON, for heaven's sake!!! Good grief, if you want to torture yourself get DVD's of every game LAST year and watch them over and over again. They still suck, but not as bad. They're on pace for what I expected: 5 to 6 wins. If they get 5, I'm encouraged. If they get 6, I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm down on DC, but this is *still* better than last year. By far. My pre-season checklist: * Win 5 games, 6 a plus: almost there * O-Line show moderate improvement: check * Defense improved behind better coaching, better scheme, and SuperMario: Well, it's Super Demeco and Mighty Mario, and check! * Receiver play improved: not as much as I hoped, but still better--check * Running game as good or better: thumbs down, but mebbe only b/c DD went down * Marked improvement from DC: after early signs that brought hope, this is a thumbs down All in all, for Kubiak's first year, not too bad.
How many wins, seriously, did you hope for? Even if they take VY, how many wins? Because if your answer is higher than 8, you were (IMO) in lala land.
QB's *always* come available sooner or later. You can always find a Brian Griese or Jake Plummer or what not out there. If you get lucky, you can find a Drew Brees. You don't need a year to groom that kind of guy. Certainly, if you're looking for a franchise rookie QB, then it takes time. But teams win all the time finding QB's in free agency. Just this year, you had Steve McNair, Drew Brees, Jon Kitna and Dante Culpepper move around. This may have been a unique year in terms of qualit, but there are always functional guys out there.
I wouldn't mind that at all. He has had some monster years. Put him under Kubiak with some discipline and let's see what he can do.
It was torture for me watch because I sincerely want this team to do well and to enjoy success. That game was just so bad compared to the thriller in Nashville that preceded it (Note: Up here in Dallas, they showed the Titans game at noon & the Cowboys at 3:00 PM. I have the NFL Sunday Ticket so I was able to get the Texans game). To be honest, while it may have been painful for me to watch the Texans, it had to be absolutely excruciating for a Raiders fan to watch. And to think, this was a team (Raiders) that was in the Super Bowl just 3 years ago. Talk about your going from the penthouse to the outhouse...
Wow. What a comment, I am pretty convinced DC will not be the QB next yr, unless he goes out and plays like Peyton Manning the next 4 games. I feel sorry for Kubiak and McNair, but they brought this one themselves. They were coming off a 2-14 season, new coach, new attitude, new front office, new systems and they had a chance to wipe the slate clean with a new QB and let Carr walk away as a unrestricted FA after 4 yrs of suckage by DC. But Kubiak thought he could turn him around and he hitched his wagons to Carr and now he is paying for it, and it had a lot to do McNair being in love with Carr and not wanting to admit that they f'd up. Memo to Coach Kubiak, take a lesson from Shanahan, they new they were never gonna win a SB with Plummer so they drafted Cutler, and regardless of last night, Cutler is gonna a hell of a QB. And Plummer isnt half as bad as DC has been thruout his career. As far as replacements go, we have to realize that there will never be another Vince, its over, he belongs to satan errrr Bud Adams now. We cant dwell on it, we need to look at the future. Honestly, the defense has played well enough that we can fix the secondary in free agency and spend the 1st and 2nd rd picks on offensive skill talent. Troy Smith would be fine with me, he is a leader and winner, played in the biggest of games and he is accurate and has a laser arm, but 6'0 might be a problem. Quinn obviously would be great. I just hope Plummer isn't here next yr.
Tony Romo played at Eastern Illinois, and he is probably on the way to a Super Bowl. But still, I want a guy who has already played in huge games, against the best defenses, battle tested. Carr doens't know how to play in huge games. Everybody knows all of those Jeff Tedford QBs suck. Kyle Boller, David Carr, Aaron Rodgers....and so on. He makes those guys look good, and they all suck. C
Remember the last time Vince had a chip on his shoulder and was really motivated for a game. If you don't, just ask USC. He was pissed because he didn't get the Heisman, and ESPN was on USCs nuts, so he had the greatest performance in college football history. There had better be extra security at Reliant, there could be a riot. Vince is playing pretty well right now and with a lot of confidence, and the Titans as a whole are playing well. Carr is playing AWFUL right now. This is gonna be the worst day in Texans history.
Some people bagged on Kuby because, he totally abandoned the passing game. Kuby was listening to his players, they're sick of losing and if that meant going to extremes and the special teams and the D along with the running game along getting it done, so be it! Kuby wants Carr to do good, but I seriously doubt if he has a shred of confidence left for him. From now on, he's doing whatever it takes to win ball games period. Yes, agreed. Carr is done, regardless of what happens the rest of the season. Sorry sports fans, it is what it is and Carr is like 7UP, never had it and never will.
i was saying they'd win about 4-5. but that ain't much to get excited about. please read my post in the context of the one i responded to.
Not sure where you saw that... doesn't excuse Carr for some of his horrid interceptions/fumbles, as well as the inability to throw for meaningful TD's in the second half of the season... but this team will never be functional unless they get a competent line. (I guess they have shown improvement from the past... but its still light years away from where it needs to be). They were likely in the bottom 5, in terms of talent, at the start of the year... and that dropped after the first game when Spencer went out. Now, they are missing three of 5 starters, and Winston looks too small to play tackle in this league (which is why they talked about moving him to guard). EDIT: I must apologize... they have gotten better. A big part of that is the fact that they actually made an EFFORT to ADDRESS the o-line problem in the off-season, rather than do what they did the last 4 years and say "the line isn't the problem." So, while they're not where they need to be... they're no longer turning a blind eye towards trying to find the solution.
You know what pisses me off, yesterday after one of the worst games I have seen a QB play, he was there after the game just smiling and laughing like an *******. I bet Kubiak wanted to slap the **** out of him as bad as I did.
Its understandable to say that David Carr sucks at this point but the o-line still doesnt protect him well. I hope he makes up for his performace against the Titans last time.
Nope. Leftwich and Pennington came from the MAC. And the WAC didn't exist when Bradshaw and Dilfer were around. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, I would never draft a QB from the WAC #1 overall.
