Did you say Damon Huard is an unrestricted free agent? Oh please, get him over here. He'd definitely be my first choice.
exactly. i NOW understand what you meant when you said Kubiak has hitched his career to David Carr. you may be right.
Seriously. I've been right there with you in regards to Carr all year long, Ric. But yesterday was pretty much the last straw for me. I think Kubiak now feels the same way, judging by some of those quotes from the Chronic. Sunday it a true gut check for Carr. Seems like we've said this before, but this time it's the real deal. Seems like the Giants game was a gut check for him too because he was coming off getting benched in tenneessee. He played OK, but the team lost. And it seemed like Carr was OK with that. That's part of the reason I don't think he's the guy for this team anymore.
Yeah, I'm with you. I like the sound of Huard coming in the offseason. That'd be a good move, I think.
How does showing David Carr the door equal starting over. The foundation was never laid for this team, David has proven he has no business in any future plans irght and Casserly was generous to leave a couple of nice bricks behind when he left (AJ and Dunta), couple that with last draft which was the best ever by the team and there is your foundation. The rebuilding process has already begun getting rid of Carr only helps to accelerate it.
For all the Carr supporters- I think that has been fair, giving him repeated chances to lead this team... no hard feelings, but now it is time to move on. I want the Texans in the Super Bowl one day... that will NEVER happen with Carr at QB- imho
I tend to agree with this. We're going to have a very solid defense for years and we already have one of the best receivers in the game, not to mention what appears to be a solid TE in Daniels. We've seen QBs come out of nowhere to lead teams competitive seasons, so I don't see any reason why that can't happen to us without having to take a Brady Quinn.
There was a NFL insider on 790 earlier this afternoon, he said that the Titans have offered Fisher an extension, but when Fisher was asked yesterday, he said there was no offer. Fisher might want to stick around after what VY has done in his 8 starts.
I disagree. The draft is about building your team, not trying to see from your crystal ball who will have the best career. It is *not* logical to judge a decision based on hindsight alone. (Yes, you and others called it in advance. Kudos to you. But it was *not* as obvious as many would like to believe it was.) They made a decision to build the team. They had a *great* draft. Daniels, Ryans, and Williams; Spencer, and there are others. *Outstanding* draft. It's looking like the only draft day decision that may seriously blow up in their faces is the non-decision--the one to keep Carr.
You know, if you were as picky about how you grade QB's as you do spelling, then you wouldn't be such a Carr supporter.
I can't believe I have to explain this. For example: if I have a pretty decent defense already, and Reggie White or Julius Peppers highlights a pretty thin draft. I have *no* running game. With my first round pick, I'm not taking Peppers, I'm taking a RB. I want to win; I plug my holes. I know there's a school of thought that says, "you draft the best available player, 'period'," but I (and quite a few NFL execs) don't agree. Build your team. Let Jerry Jones chase after starts and egos.
Well, I'm not here to say we should have drafted VY (of course I wish), but its obvious based on this that he's given up on him...The problem is, for the rest of the season, Kubiak's body language and yelling at Carr has beaten him down and the team knows he's lost confidence in him...That' makes the rest of the season a long one... Hell, put in Van Pelt...
I am 100% in agreement. Not to go all Bob Costas on everyone (what with the hyperbole), but this Sunday has the potential to be absolutely devastating for the Texans franchise as a whole. We're talking The End Of All Existence here. Also, David Carr will be playing for his career this week. Show up VY, and he may buy himself a little more time (seeing as Houston fans are fickle). Play poorly, and his ass will be run out of town on Monday by the fans. Regardless, this week's game is going to get U-G-L-Y.
Yeah, Carr is done in Houston. That's one main reason why I decided not to support the Texans. You don't draft a QB from WAC #1 overall. I had someone tell me he was gonna lead the team to 8-8 record this year with a Pro Bowl invitation. So much for that. You can have him as a backup, but not as your starting QB. Texans need to draft Adrian Peterson #1 and Kevin Kolb in the 2nd round.
I have a feeling Kubiak comes out this next week calling handoff after handoff after handoff. Which will drive us even further into the abyss as the Titans cram the box and mow down the ball carriers. Wouldn't surprise if our first 3 drives were all 3 and out on 9 straight runs. God forbid VY gets loose and jukes MW into the turf and takes a 40 yard jaunt into the endzone right after Carr throws a pick or coughs her up again. They'll be booing the whole days of Christmas.
