This was debated in another thread about weighlifting. I thought 3-4lbs loss per week was ok? I am still eating enough, but not junk food, just replacing the crap with good food, water, and exercise.
Can't you just hear the telecast next season? Bill: "Nice move by Parker. Steve dribbles up the court quickly...but the Spurs are back on D. He tosses it to Eddie in the post..." Calvin: "I like this 'pass first' mentality that the-" Both: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Bill: "Eddie Griffin! What a move! He shook Duncan right out of his skin! Look at Duncan! Look at his face! Ohhhhhh...that was highlight-reel stuff!" Calvin: "I think Eddie wants to bring a little Dream back to Houston!" Replay comes on Bill: "Look at that, Calvin. He spun to his left, spun to his right, gave Duncan a head-fake then scooped under for the easy lay-in. What a phenominal move." Calvin: "I think last time we saw that one, we were also playing the Spurs." Looks at replay again "Ooooooooooh! Show me sumptin, young'n! Show may sump - TIN! Ooooooooh, I love that kid."
I can't believe that people in this thread are actually panicked or negative about hearing Griffin "looks chiseled out of granite" and "gained 25-30 pounds." And especially that "he's already taken his game to a whole other level," and working on Dream's old moves. Don't we wish that TMo, Cato, Langhi and Torres would go do the same type of thing? Thats the difference between the superstars and regular players. Michael Jordan and Dream were those type of guys, who were disciplined, regimented, constantly developing their games. Lets all APPLAUD! and say, KEEP IT UP, GRIFFIN!
I hope you're right. Griff does have the frame to carry an extra 30 lbs. He's still young so a guy his size won't actually physically mature until his late 20's. The only thing that really concerns me is his health. For an example of what I'm talking about take a look at Gary Trent. Now he is much more solid than Griff, and has always been pretty muscular but a couple of years ago he added about 30-35 pounds of muscle because he thought it would help. It didn't. It actually hurt him more than it helped him. He suffered through the entire year with pulled hamstrings, and pulled pectoral muscles. Griff even with the added weight would still be leaner than Trent so that may help him but I would just hate to see him suffer through some unneccessary injuries. The last thing the Rockets need is for another one of their star players getting hurt.
That was great, finalsbound... I almost dumped my drink on my keyboard! (wouldn't have been the first time it's happened )- I could just picture Bill and Calvin. Let's hope Rocket!!! is right about Griff. If he really develops during the summer, everyone gets healthy and good things come from our lottery luck- watch out, here come the Rockets! Isn't it great to have stuff to be UP about after the nightmare we all just went through? League Pass, I'm springin' for ya again!
Well, in the first few weeks of dieting, a drastic change of food habits (such as giving up junk food, alcohol, cola, etc.) may lead to a rather large weight loss (up to 3 pounds in a week)... however this is usually tabled after 3-5 weeks. Remember, 1 pound = 3500 calories, thus to lose 1 pound means to cut 3500 calories out of your diet or to burn 3500 calories off. B/c it is healthy to lose 1 pound/week, this means burning 500 extra calories a day through exercise and/or diet. However, you said you lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. That means burning 52,500 calories in a 14 day period, or 3750 calories a day!!!!! That could be a tad worrisome. I would keep close tabs on the weight loss for the next few weeks to make sure it tables off...
You took the words right out of my mouth. When i saw Griffin 2 wks ago, he looked about the same size, but he did have a big shirt on so i couldn't tell.
Griff assuradly gained weight...the season is over. 99% of athlethes gain weight when their season is over. But it isn't problamatic, this early in the offseason, as most of that is body fat that will burn off when he starts preparing for the regular season. I'm sure he's also doing things to build mass so it's probably a combination of the two. I'll wait until pre-season to see what he looks like then.
Kro, I think you need to go back and read some of the posts before your's. They said "God, he looks chisled out of granite" not "He looks like a sack of potatoes"
