    Is Battier worth the MLE?

    More than Trevor is, yes.

Battier is a better overall basketball player, much smarter, plays better defense and knows his role.

i think DD is a little bit biased as are alot of people with the Arize hate.
Coming in to the organization he was told to take more shots, he was told to do as much as he could do. His developement to be an offensive threat was given the green light. Comming in league he wasnt a natural scorer like tmac, lebron and so one. The lakers and other teams gave him a defined role and his spots to shoot were basically picked for him within the offense. While here we asked him to find his own spots and that isnt something that you learn overnite.

For me personally, I think he was a little slow to show improvement on shot selection. Also, i feel he isnt as coordinated as i thought he would be. However, there is improvement within his game that wasnt there last year when he was with the lakers. He wasnt as much as a slasher then, i've notice him slash more. He is more aggressive, gets to the line more. he assists more. Aggressiveness on the offensive end shows that he is improving. He is adding weapons to his game he just hasnt prefected them yet. What i hope he developes in offseason is having more than 1 gear in speed and a first step move to get by defenders. But over all he has improved even if his % arent what we expect them to be.

Say all you want but he is worth MLE....

Defense is risky but he has shown, he is more than capable on guarding the best wing players today.

His offense is spotty but at least teams know he will try to score, so they can't exactly leave him alone.

24 years old...... I mean he has came close to a few triple doubles this year.

    and he Hustles.

This man speaks the truth. You don't pay somebody the MLE and expect that player to be 'the man'

While other teams throw money at aging stars for MLE money, the Rockets invested in a young player with upside.

Well worth the MLE. How can one argue otherwise?

People want have so much faith in Morey doing everything else, but a lot of you are still hung up, for whatever reason, about the Ariza signing.

It's not like he threw him a max contract here..

Love Battier's defense but as an overall player, he's lack of any consistent offense besides the three doesn't jive well with being better then Ariza.

He shoots a higher percentage, plays better defense, and plays within himself, I would say that is a better player.

did you just forget every game AFTER the trade?

Those percentages were skewed because he was forced to play out of position. Ariza plays better defense than Battier regardless of what you convince yourself of. His steals lead to easy points. Charges lead to extra possessions.

Trevor almost had a triple double a few games ago and he's been playing well within himself.

After the first week of March, Ariza's played pretty well, except for 2 or 3 games. I think that getting Martin helped him a lot. Trevor's now being used mostly at the 3, where he should have played all along if we lived in a perfect world. Kevin allowed Adelman to do that, which must have been a huge relief to him (meaning a relief to Coach Adelman). God, Ariza sucked as a 2 guard.

Shooting under 40% is not pretty well....in fact it stinks for a guy that gets a layup or dunk every game on a steal.

Let's get a little higher standards going, hold them accountable...they can do better.

It looks like player 2 knows his limitations, player 1 has 14ppg but can't shoot for ****, he obviously shouldn't be shooting that much. Your stats also don't show anything about defense

You've been talking about AB's defense getting better when Yao (who you say we should not believe in) gets back because he'll clog the paint.

And you're asking us to hold a higher standard for Ariza? AB gets beat every game.

Sounds like double standards to me.

I guess by your same logic Ariza will be a beast on defense when Yao gets back right?

    RIGHT????

DD has my support on his opinion about ariza.

ariza is a solid role player. that's it. if he is asked to guide rox offense by creating own shots or shots for others, like we saw he did in early of the season as morey and ra believed, he will flounder badly. when he is not a team offense focal point, he can score. it has been proved when he was with lakers.

on defense side, he is more artest type and likes to gamble on steal. he doesn't have shane's fundamental defense skills.

we've already had a $6-7 mil player (shane). now we add another $6 mil player who is slight better than shane on offense end and worse than shane on defense end. it's not a good strategy.

i don't believe morey expect ariza is what he is. otherwise, morey would not sign him.

looks like you have your mind made up already, But what most people see is a better player and when you tell them player 1 is..

7 years younger than player 2 they'll take player 2 all day.

Why is player 1 better? because he scores more points? he shoots an even lower percentage. Anyone shooting that poorly and scoring that much is hurting their team

The coaches asked him to shoot more. You know that. They played him out of position until the trade.

Have you not seen vast improvement since he was moved back to SF?
You saw what he did last night and the night he almost had a triple double.

look at the age brother. He has potential.

Everyone's defense gets better, Shane's, Trevors, AB's.....not sure what your point is.

    Right...RIGHT !
