did you not test drive the car? and aren't commuter cars supposed to be boring to drive? you are sitting in traffic most of the time in houston. not llike we have hills, valleys and curvy roads..
I've owned many different vehicles. Sports cars, pickup trucks, sedans. After about six months it's just a machine that gets me from one place to another. I've liked some vehicles more than others, but I've never traded one in after a short period. When I buy a vehicle now, I want something that is comfortable(not too small), gets good gas mileage, and a reasonable price.
I'm paying $1k a month for my Gwagon and that was with a hefty down payment. Definitely regret it since I drive my Acura most of the time.
Kinda sorta? I'm a point-A-to-point-B type guy and don't care about sportiness, and I drive as little as humanly possible. Up until only about 6 months ago I had a 2008 Elantra with only 35k miles on it, because I have a 10-minute commute. It was definitely in perfect condition and very reliable. I even brought it in every 6 months for preventative maintenance and had just replaced the timing belt a year before. My brother-in-law was in a bad way with needing a reliable car for cheap. Partly to help him out, and partly because I wanted a car that at least had a backup-cam, a modern sound-system, and some modern safety features, I sold my him my Elantra for cheap (and on a payment plan at that), and I bought a VW Golf, Wolfsburg trim. I knew I wanted a hatchback, because I occasionally find myself needing space for big items, furniture and whatnot. Along with the Golf, I had considered the Mazda3 or the Civic. For the Mazda3, the poor visibility out the back, and the skinnier tires on the higher trim levels that made me feel the bumps more turned me off. For the Civic, I did not like the feel of the CVT and the sound system sucked donkey balls. I went with the Golf because it seemed to have the least wrong with it. ...but now I wonder a little bit if I missed the forest for the trees. My big problem with the Golf is that the back seat doesn't actually fold all the way down, and that was supposed to be the point of getting a hatchback. Transmission is a little finicky in the low gears as well, and who knows if I will eventually run into reliability issues, which would be my worst nightmare. I find myself thinking that maybe I shoulda gone with the Mazda3, because both the issues I had with it were things I probably would've gotten used to. Not being able to fold the seats down properly isn't something you can "get used to" though.
OP needs to trade his car ASAP unless you look past your unfondness for your car. If you don't like your car, you will drive like it is stolen and become a passive driver. Be happy with the car you want and you will respect the car, have fun with it and make it live long. I had a new car that I love so much that I kept it for 12 years until someone wanted more than me, paying for it dearly. Like in business, if it is showing some faillings, pull out ASAP.
Over a year ago I bought a ram fora price I now realize was too high. All I do now is double up on my payments and pay it off faster. Every time I get an itch to buy something stupid I make a small payment toward the truck.
After a car accident (not our fault) a few years ago I replaced my Corolla with another. Maybe sheer inertia. Anyway, after a little while of dealing with my wife's freeway paranoia thanks to the accident, we got a Tacoma. Lost some money to be sure. Never thought I'd be a truck guy but after feeling the extra space of the truck, not to mention how I can drive through water deeper than a car can handle..........yeah, I regret that "interim" Corolla, but live and learn. I also hate the little financing room at the Toyota dealerships where they try to sell you on things you don't need, but that's another tale.
My first new car was a 2007 Honda Fit. Less than a year after getting it a lady hit me while running a red light and totaled it. I ended up buying a 2008 Honda Fit to replace it. Shortly after I kind of regretted it because I always wanted something bigger or more fun. However, a few years down the line I realized it was probably the best choice (price wise and for the fact that it was pretty good at helping me move to and from college with the hatch back and folding seats). I still have it and haven't made a payment on it in years. Now it is tough me for to get rid of it. I want a truck, but will wait until this time next year before I really make any plans to buy anything. Even then, I may not.
It's the mrs so i don't have to deal with it much we should have got a larger suv. It's a good car and i like it (volvo xc60) but I can't sit in a normal position due to the car seats. It's fine for her but on the road trips it's a little annoying for me.
I got lucky and got buyers remorse before I bought a new car. The car I wanted was sold while I was dealing with the sales man, but they had another that was very similar to the one I wanted. Only problem it was the wrong color. At first I was ok with it, but when it came time to make it all official I could not go through with it. What I wanted was blue this was gold. I would have been ok with just about any color silver, grey, white, red, but I just could not do gold.
