Has anyone noticed how cheap the Rockets game entertainment is?

Hating my own kind? I'm under 2 bills

If you are part of the Tundra, sorry to hear it. The first time I saw the Tundra Crew, it was some what funny. But then after the 10th, 11th time it lost its luster.

Actually most of the time it does mean retiring the costume. The San Diego Chicken and the Philly Phanatic are still the same guys who originated the character.

    But Turbo retired voluntarily.

If you'd like to hire his guys for your personal party - here's their website:

My take on the food is this:

Most people are upset because they were familiar with what the chain restaurants served. People like the familiarity that came with Pappas or Chipotle. Well, the Rockets have spent more time and money on food in that building, it seems, than on the building itself. There was NO WAY they were going to bring in chains because they could not guarantee quality control and, simply put, it would cost more.

Personally, I like the options at Toyota. They have vegitarian options that I could NEVER get at Compaq. I can get a veggie burger or veggie stir fry, neither of which were available before. Plus, the ice cream is un-freakin' believable.

As for Pepsi, to me that just means I can get Dr. Pepper which, if you are a REAL Texans, should be all you need. :D

Maybe after the first 15-20 years of Toyota Center they will redo the food court/food. It wasn't until the Summit changed to the Compaq Center that they upgraded the food.......thats suxs....don't want to wait 15-20 years :(

i agree tundra dancers have got to go...also BIG BANG were far from being a fan fave in any of the sections i've ever sat in

i am a fan of the breakers/jump ropers every now and then... and have always wished they brought back the power dancers using those red airport runway lights during pre-game

    ...and of course TURBO!! :D

They have some pretty good Quesadillas with brisket in them. Everything else I've had is just your basic over-priced sporting event junk.

I never really thought that entertainment was such a big deal at games. Especially at Texans games. At halftime, I usually have a better time talking to other people around me in the crowd and who I went to the game with.

I think that the entertainment is a plus, not really something I expect or give that much thought to. Actually if there was not entertainment, I wouldn't really care. But that is just me.

I've always like the Nachos and the Mongolian Beef, never had any problems with the food at the TC.

You should eat some of the crud they sell up here in Dallas at the AAC

I've felt that there's been a more honest attempt at entertainment since the move to TC. Doesn't mean that it's wowed me. The breakers have been my fav for a while now. Makes the power dancers look like a Junior High dance squad. Of course, the PDs are still better eye candy.

Clutch is top notch. Pure and simple. Gotten better in the past couple of years, too. As far as the 'why a bear' issue, I'd rather that than a gigantic phallic symbol wandering around giving little boys and girls hugs.

The three point shootout with local kids bored me to death, but I recognize that it would be a lifetime memory for someone who participated or their parents. "Quick change" is a somewhat entertaining half-time show. My favorite was the two guys on the trampoline (full trampoline, not a mini-tramp) doing some craaazy s***.

I always got a good laugh from "Fun with Yao", and his Chinese language instruction. "Not in my house!" I haven't seem them do that bit this year, however.

Can't really compare Texans & Rockets.......over 40 homes games vs. 8 homes games.......the atmosphere is totally different.

"Quick Change" is one of the classic halftime shows that the did keep......those are the ones I miss. The Chinese ladies with bowls or the two dudes that balance them shelves on each other. Oh, and the "Steppers"....NOT!!!

I agree. Unless you are rich enough to sit in the lower areas, you most likely will not get a shirt.

I've noticed how cheap their handouts have become. They hand you a cardboard sign with the players on each team and a few promotions of upcoming games on it. They use to pass out a small booklet with info on the two teams, key matchups, a recap of previous meetings and relatively current season stats on each player from both teams. That used to be my halftime entertainment, now I have to watch male cheerleader step dance. Peace.

Every season I would also get a Media Guide before the the regular season would even start.......now nothing.....they told me you can buy one in the team shop for $10........The fact is, that the Rockets went way over budget on the stadium.....and they are hurting from it!

Same here, those booklets would keep me occupied before the game or during halftime. We even brought a few of them home. Now when they try to give us the new ones we don't even take them anymore. Did anyone else notice at the first game of the year they were trying to sell them? The next game I went to I asked the guy and he said that didn't work out so they were free now.

Don't get me started about the shirts. I only have a couple of things to say about that.

    1) You pay more to sit lower so you deserve a shirt.
    2) They've started at least sending people to the upper sections to throw shirts out, even though it's not many. There are also people who throw them from the walkways above.
    3) I can only imagine how many shirts some people in the lower bowl must have.
    4) If you really want a shirt get there early and play the games. The last couple of games I've been to had a little basketball game set up. If you made 2 shots in a row you got a shirt. My gf and I both got one last time. The goals are smaller than regulation so it's difficult, but if you get there early and nobody is in line then you can shoot until you win.

Yeah for one dollar, ridiculous

My friend hooked me up with 4th row seats, and I caught (3) shirts in 2 min. :D
