If Nash isn't the MVP of the league, he is by far the MVP of the Suns. He is far more important than either Amare, Marion, Diaw or any of their guys. If he goes down, you can stick a fork in the Suns. If any of the other guys gets injured, the Suns are still a viable contender. He is one of the most unique players the NBA has ever seen.
He is amazing......but....he gets a LOT of freedom to run that team....would someone like TJ Ford be able to do the same thing? I don't know...but I wish more coaches would have the cajones to give more freedom to the players...especially the upper echelon PGs. DD
anybody can look stronger when they are spoon-fed their offense. he's almost goofy when he tries to create his own offense.
Amare is a by product of Nash. How many of his points come from easy high pick/role with Nash? It goes like Nash penetrates off Amare screen, Amare cuts to the basket, Nash passes, Amare dunks home. every single time. give him the ball and let him create his own shots and he usually struggles.
You're right. You could subsitute Amare with Diop and he would do the same thing. I love how people think Nash makes all these guys so much better yet it doesn't help him that he hasall that talent to work with.
He is a good player don't get me wrong but he is inflated by nash. Any athletic four is going to put up monster numbers with the best player in the NBA.
This is a dumb argument. That holds true for every single player in the NBA who plays with a good point guard (who is willing to distribute). Amare is a great player, he completely abused Tim Duncan (one of the best of all time in the Playoffs and he's only 24 years old). Dude averaged almost 40 ppg. The argument that "any athletic big man could average monster numbers in that system" is lame. Stromile Swift couldn't do it. You and I both know that to be a fact. I don't know Amare's basketball IQ but he makes himself available for those passess. he hits that 15 foot jumper know. He takes the ball to the basket and dunks on people. Look at all those wide open threes Nash gets. Those are a biproduct of how well he runs the pick and roll with Amare and Marion. They all help each other. Nobody is arguing the talent of Nash, but I just think the vast majority on this board hate Amare (always have since the Amare/Yao stuff and b/c he's cocky) so it's easy to bash him. Explain to me why the Suns were struggling at the beginning of the season and then they inserted Amare as a starter, he played really well and they started winning. It's not a coincidence. If you want to say that Nash got Boris Diaw his contract I'll buy that but even Diaw is a pretty skilled role player.
