He's basically a very good defensive SF that can't shoot. If he can shoot >35% on 3s, he'd be paid $10 million per year.
James Anderson had his career high against the Rockets while playing at the worst team in the league, and he is jobless in the NBA now.
You can't teach length... recovery speed... jumping ability... and lateral quickness. He'd be an excellent supplement to Ariza (or simply replace Ariza if he's moved for some reason). I think he'll get a pretty good contract offer, and will be tough for the Mavs to pay big money to both him and Parsons.
He basically played like shawn marion without the jumper. I'll give him credit. he was awesome against us. He needs to either bulk up a bit and be a full time PF or lock himself in a gym and become a respectable 3pt shooter. Everything else is there. He didnt shut Harden down but he sure damn sure made him work. His shot blocking and rebounding are elite for a wing player.
Well. I can understand. So you are willing to get him over Brewer? You lose scoring potential, the best transition guy, and locker room presence with his humor and his relationship with Dwight, Harden and folks And someone who loves Houston selflessly You gain Defense, Length.....Occasional scoring
He definitely didn't shut down Harden but he limited him getting the ball. Or else Harden would've gone for 35+ pts.
Might want to go check how many of the 28 came with Aminu gaurding him. I'd say about half of the 28 came with Aminu on him.
Yeah I'm going to have to disagree with your points. His shooting has been spotty and so have his minutes this season as well as last but his shooting form has actually gotten better and I would wager that next season he will be between 30-35% and he still has time to improve on that. "Generally dumb"? As in he makes dumb basketball plays? Maybe early in his career in LA or NOLA but when I've watched him he's been no more "dumb" than the majority of the small forwards in the league. He isn't perfect but he isn't a dumb player either. He learned A LOT this season playing in Dallas for Rick and playing alongside Tyson Chandler. I know this because he said so, the Mavs players and staff say so and I've seen it in him as well. The Mavs won't overpay for him but they are hoping (from what I've been told) that when(not if) he declines his player option, he takes the MLE to come back(as I mentioned, he def felt he developed in Dallas and especially his relationship with Tyson Chandler will help him in terms of weighing up reasons to return and not take a big money offer elsewhere) and then when the cap goes up in I think the summer after next(or is it next summer?) then he will test the waters for a big money deal.
He's always been an excellent rebounder for his position. The shooting is a fluke. The defensive focus is not a fluke, but it's somewhat new - he's always been a bit flaky to offset his athleticism and length.
wtf...shutting harden down? 28.4 points per game 46.5% shooting 38.7% from the 3 96% from the FT line 7.8 Assists per game 3.8 rebounds per game
....and he's a FA now: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Al-Farouq Aminu says he will use his player option and become a free agent but adds, "I love this team. I love this city."</p>— Earl K.
