I like reading opinions that aren't my own. If they make sense to me, then all the better.

Texxx was a progressive before he started reading the D&D.

The D&D changed New Yorker's mind about everything.

Definitely become more moderate over the years of being here. Especially on social issues.

I also was pretty gung-ho WRT the Iraq War back in the early 2000's. Now....not so much...

I've honestly become more conservative about a few things, or when that's not true, I explain conservative positions better to my super-liberal friends. They're always like "how can people actually believe blah blah blah!" And I'm all like, "well, if you think about this way, and bleh bleh bleh." (It is really hard to type bleh here, btw. The editor wants to suggest "bleb" and then, eventually bleu. LOL.)

Yeah, it's frustrating and most people are locked into all their positions. But I still enjoy learning how people think (and more often feel) about big societal topics.

Yes. I have changed or adapted my view on occasion when new evidence or support I wasn't aware of, was put forward.

Yea I was a Republican back in high school until I started reading the D&D. When I read all the subtle racism from the usual conservatives I started to change my mind.

I just saw your rating - I wouldn't survive very long against you. You're an incredibly good player.

Hundreds of times. No one likes to admit it, but it happens everyday.

Wow...I didn't actually expect this many responses, but I'm glad to see what I'm seeing.

It blows my mind to see some of the hard line stances from some on here.

I agree that reading the D&D sparks my curiosity, and I love to research the issues being argued. I too have modified my views on some topics, but damn I've also see some people's extreme pigheadedness on topics.

Good to see others digging through the poo to find the good info.

I've changed or softened my views on a few things over time and debating with people on the D&D has helped that.

I don't look to the D&D for changing people's views but more for learning and improving my own views. As in martial arts improvement often comes from conflict. I see political and philosophical discussion the same way. There are many very intelligent and well informed posters here and very many who don't think the same way as I do and /or have information that I don't have. By engaging them I find it helps my own thinking.

I have found that there are some people you just can't hope to have a discussion with. I didn't think that before about them, so in a sense yes they changed my views.

But also I do spend some time now and then reading different people's opinions which greatly differ from my own, so I'm sure in a way some others' influence has rubbed off whether I've realized it or not.

When you read opinions that are greatly different from your own it can either solidify your initial position or completely change it, that's why I'm fond of reading differing opinions when they are intelligent, well thought out differing opinions.

In a perfect world, that's all we'd have in the D&D, but sadly, it's not a perfect world.

I think reading and/or participating in a D&D can moderate more extreme opinions, but for me, talking with family and friends (unsurprisingly) has way more of an impact than posts made on here.
