Talking about number 1 picks all the time is boring. Talking about the players everyone expects to be good is not as fun as talking about the surprise highlights such as Lin. Its a breath of fresh air when an undrafted player plays well, it gets people talking.

Yes, it is a breath of fresh air when an undrafted player plays well. As far as I know, however, Lin has yet to play a game in the NBA.

I don't believe the fans cheering for him at the summer league games were Asians, closet Warrior fans or his relatives.

The story just has appeal, more so that the Warriors want him now. If he makes it, look out for the movie "He Got Hoop Dreams".

Really dude? I would be happy with 4 mil a year after going undrafted. Even after taxes that's still a lot of money.

Not a surprising hyper-exaggerated statement from an avid Lebron apologist. :p

Exactly. I don't get the "overrated" thing. It's precisely because he has been underrated because of his race his whole career that he's getting so much attention now.

It is sort of like when Yao first got to the NBA as a #1 pick. People kept saying he's overrated, but he was actually grossly underrated by a lot of talking heads.

Well, ok. Not quite as much attention as Lebron. But we're talking about an undrafted player who's never played an NBA game and he's got two threads going, one of which suggests that he'd be a suitable replacement for Kyle Lowry.

Good for him. Yes, it's likely he won't succeed, but it's the first Asian American who has ever really had the chance. It's news.

What that kid needs is a Shaq dunk upside his head and a Rasheed trash talking in his ear to welcome him into the NBA. Since one is retired and the other is unlikely to join a team this year, we'll have to settle for a Reggie Evans reach around and a Nate Robinson dunk on him.

Memo to Jeremy: when those gold diggers say "It's so big!", they're most likely talking about your wallet.

He's not a scrub. He's a highly basketball intelligent, highly efficient, highly skilled player. He is going to be a star. I really wished Morey would have gone after this kid.

    ACTUALLY

at least the games i saw him play it was the Asians and golden state fans cheering for him. On saturday the 10 the mavericks were playing a game after the warriors and a lot of warrior fans stayed (they were also asian) to cheer for him and same with the other asians.

same with the first game john wall played against golden state, Sun Yue NOT john wall got the biggest ovations and cheers

Making the NBA means he is in the top .0001% of all people who pursue his career. Unless you're the best burger flipper in the entire world, I would still say he's done better than you in life.

I am pretty sure Lin has had his share of abuse as a basketball player. This is an excerpt of a TIME article on him:

Show us a picture of your "big" and let us determine if it's big or small.
    I dare you not!
So just crawl back into your cave. Loser!

I didn't see an uproar when the Greg Oden jokes were flowing around here.

I was just talking about your regular rookie hazing, not that bigot stuff. Of course that stuff is lame, but only way for Jeremy to change that is through his play.

The NBA is more corporate PC anyways, I mean Shaq got hell when he mocked Yao with his rendition of how asians sound when talking.
