I gotta wonder about this study. Those starting salaries seem awfully high, at least for these parts, especially for liberal arts degrees. East Coast/NE regional economic bias perhaps?

But, if your point was that guy might have a successful career even without Harvard, I would tend to agree.

The average incoming freshman at Harvard has a 4.04 gpa on a 4.0 scale.

This is it what Harvard says it looks for. In this list it does mention character. In discussion we must keep in mind this wss a one time two year old incident

Must have been lots of code words in Sweet Lou's post:

Funny, I don't see the word "black" anywhere in his post. Nor the word "hate". Heck, it doesn't even seem to be a personal attack on you at all.

Well said. We may hold quite different positions on several topics (or maybe not that many), but we agree here, Dr B-Bob. I play trivia every week with a retired doctor at a pub here in Austin, but he's a retired cardiovascular surgeon. We win quite often! ;-)

A close friend of mine worked for Hughes Tool in Houston for 6 or 7 years after high school as a machinist. He was smart enough to know that he had reached a dead end, having learned to operate every machine they had, when they told him to "pick one and shut up!"

So he used some money he'd saved and some credit cards to go to UT in Austin and graduate in 3 years, spending a year of that living with us. He applied to Harvard and Stanford, intending to get an MBA. My significant other helped him write his applications, having experience hiring several MBA's to work for her, with writing and editing a part of her job with the state. To our astonishment (not his), Harvard accepted him. Many, many years later, after doing IPO's and a bunch of other things, he's a CFO for a major corporation. A classic "working class guy makes good" American story. While he didn't drop out of high school, he clearly didn't fit the typical Harvard profile most associate with the university. Thought you might find that a little interesting.

LOL... the snowflake whining about another poster making it personal... just look at your posts. Seriously, claiming the other guy brought up race and hate when there is nothing even remotely close in his post.

Are you sure the only reason you are defending the guy who Harvard turned away for offensive racist social media posts is because he is a trump supporter? And all this "gee, he had a great GPA so Harvard should ignore his offensive racists posts" is just smoke.

Thanks for the link. He might have had trouble with these questions:
    • What about your maturity, character, leadership, self-confidence, warmth of personality, sense of humor, energy, concern for others, and grace under pressure?
    • Would other students want to room with you, share a meal, be in a seminar together, be teammates, or collaborate in a closely knit extracurricular group?
Look, I can see the argument that it was a one-time thing and he should be forgiven. There's also an argument that forgiving him is giving the middle finger to folks in the student body that are hurt by his racist trolling, just like there are some right-wingers who feel this is giving the middle finger to the free expression of white identitarians. But, it's Harvard that decides if they're going to forgive it and let him in. They decided not to.

    Simple question

What got this guy in trouble. Hint it wasn't Trump support

Either own up to your mistake or stop responding

I didn't say it was his trump support that caused Harvard to rescind his admissions. He got in trouble for offensively racist posts he made on social media. Do you have trouble reading, or is it more of an integrity problem?

I totally agree with you. The kid may or may not be racist. But using the word is an incident of racism.

Are you accidentally dense... or intentionally?

    Again, what Sweet Lou wrote:

And here's your reply to Sweet Lou's post:

Now look at the Sweet Lou's post quote and quote where Sweet Lou says anything about black? Or hate? Or even getting "personal"? He did't. You did. You do this constantly... claim something, then claim something different. All the while arguing and even insulting the other person.

And btw, the guy Harvard rescinded the admissions for posting racists things on social media does share the same support of trump as you (though that had nothing to do with his admission being rescinded).

Poor white men. If only they had some institution of financial industries of which they were in charge and had all of the power... a power that was established and rooted into place at a time when others were prevented from equal access.
