harry potter is written much better. Lord of the rings is more intelligent per say, but HP is written much better and much more compelling of a story.
Actually I kind of hold the belief that although Return of the King won best picture, it was really a win for the series as a whole. Every single one of those movies should have easily won over their competitors, but they didn't because the Academy didn't want to have to award it to the same people three times in a row. Just my theory though. I started reading HP with OotP...breezed through that and HBP. I tried reading FOtR...slowest read I've ever encountered...countless pages of descriptions, explanations, poems and songs. Just way to slow for me...I was told TT and ROTK were much faster and I began to agree when I started reading TT but I eventually stopped early in cause I had just grown bored of the books thanks to Fellowship.
Not even close. Lord of the Rings. Man I just saw Harry Potter last night on IMAX... let me tell ya.. WASTE OF $12.5!!! The 3D was only for about 5 minutes. But I still vote for HP.. LOTR might be better in terms of books but HP has their number on the movie. Too bad Hermione is flat and probably still underaged. I would probably have seen it on opening night if Lindsey Lohan played her part.
