If you've only read the 1st two books, you should be really happy when you read the next two. In my opinion, it took the author two books to get her writing style down. The 3rd and 4th books are so much better. I'm looking forward to the 5th. Maybe its just because they spend waaay too much time talking about the 1st book in the second book. I just felt that the second book really wasnt that different than the first. Not focusing so much on Hogwarts' Quiddich in the 4th book was also refreshing. I just saw the movies last week. Pretty good. I read the 4th book on a Sunday. Sorry to all of you people who think thats sacreligous.
I just want to know if he is in either of the next two books. If he is I do not want to know what type of role he plays in them. I just want to know if he is in them. Someone can either say yes or no without spoiling anything.
If you saw the second movie, it is Malfoy senior who plants the Ridder Diary with Ron's little sister.
The third book is my favorite... so far. As for Dobby knowing about the plot against Potter: Remember, Lucius Malfoy was accused of purposely giving the diary of Tom Riddle to Ginny Weasley in order to release Voldemort. What does that tell you? ... I can't remember: Was Potter ever specifically mentioned as a target of the plot? Or was Dobby just talking about Hogwarts in general? Man, I miss nomar's ridiculous rants about the hidden evils of Harry Potter, a freaking children's book.
You were brainwashed into thinking that you're a very highpowered independent thinker. nah, but I mean. I'm not too religious. I just think its like the Simpsons in a way. Its something that looks so childish (and is to many people) that grabs the attention of the ever-so-"mature" adults.
It is embarrasing to admit sometimes, but I'm a fan too. I thought H.P. was probably lame, but I downloaded all the books and read them at work when I had nothing to do. The fourth book was really cool. I thought the Quidditch cup part was kind of boring but after that I was kind of blown away. (I was too dumb to see the ending coming). But it is getting to be like Star Wars to me because you can start asking "Well, why didn't they do this or How come they didn't do that". But I guess that is when you just got to shake yourself. I am looking forward to the fith book. As far as the movies go, I could not imagine watching Chamber of Secrets on acid. To me it would rival Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka. I think in time more people will realize how good H.P. really is.
my take...I dont remember exactly, but Riddle seems to possess the knowledge that HP is responsible for his future self's downfall. and he therefore wants to kill him. Dobby was rather explicit in his warnings that HP was in danger.. and yes Lil Pun, you can probably expect Dobby to make appearances throughout the rest of the series. yea, that was amusing, especially when you consider his attachment to The LOTR series and the objections that some have about the hidden evils of that series. It seems to be predictable that the religious right complains about anything that has to do with magic..like they are afraid that we are all going to become satanists at the mearest mention of wizards.. htownrocks...I think I understand your position...you believe that anything children-oriented(animated/fantasy) should be looked down on by "mature" adults? Still curious...do you read fantasy/scifi or enjoy fantasy shows? I have that theory that people who don't like that genre don't get into stuff like HP. Am I off-base in that theory?
From what I remember....' Dobby specifically came to HP to tell Him. He was in great danger and that he should not return to school. even tried to stop him a few times. okay...I'm a dork...
I've always wondered how Riddle knew that Harry was going to thwart his future self. I guess Ginny told Riddle all about Potter and his deeds. That, or Lucius Malfoy and the "memory of Voldemort" discussed a plan before the diary was secretly dropped in Ginny's bag. When exactly did Voldemort record himself in the diary, anyway? I saw the first fim at the movies, and enjoyed it. The second one was better, but I didn't go out of my way to watch it. Instead I just rented it on DVD. I can see why so many people like the movie, but I can't say the same about the books, as I never read them. But JK Rowling must be doing something right.....
Wow, thats pretty amazing glitch in logic you found in the book. After serious reviewing.. I can't find anywhere that states why doby tought HP himself would be endangered by Tom Riddle. I'd assume that since Malfoy wants to kill HP in the later books, Doby must have overheard some plot with Potter's name in it and decided to warn him.... yes I'm a dork too
I have preordered the new one. Liking Harry Potter does not make one a dork. Huck Finn (the first modern novel) was a kid's book. Also, I couldn't stand Dobby in the movie, nor was I too fond of him in the book...
I have heard the same about Dobby. I have heard people compare him in Harry Potter to Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars. Personally, I'll take Dobby any day!
You know what...for some strange reason I like the Sorting Hat the most as well. I wish they would have added that little song he did in the first book in the first movie.
