I need to doublecheck the specifics, but in Order of the Phoenix, there is talk about the prophecy and who it might apply to...iirc...Neville is involved.

Castor is right....JKR has said(or hinted, I dont remember exactly) that the half blood prince isnt HP....which is consistent with what I remember reading in OFTP.

rockets#1.....Im reeeally glad you took the time to keep us informed of your opinion about a subject that nobody asked you about...the way you did it was so mature...geee...what could I have been thinking??
I can't imagine why I have been enjoying a series that I can read with my daughter(who hasnt shown an interest in reading before the HP series)....thanks for opening my eyes to the sordid truth.

Well, prince is a pretty important person, so if it's not Harry, you have gotta be talking about a family member. I doubt it would be a brother. Because why would that kid be a prince and Harry not be referred to as one. Plus someone would have talked about the "other one" by now since everyone knew about Harry. But they havn't. So I'll eliminate a brother as the half prince. If I were to guess the half prince is either the future son of Potter or he is the grandfather. I'll lean toward Grandfather because the other scenario gives away too much. If it were the grandfather it would explain a little bit about his family. Which seems to have been sidestepped for a long time. So yes. I'll go with grandfather now. I'll take that a little further. The Grandfather was probably the one who had Valdemort destroyed. You also have another possibility that the Grandfather is Valdemort. That is a nice way to tie everything togther, but seems unlikely to me, as Valdemort hasn't really had any connection to Potter other than hatred.

    PSJ,

you mentioned only having seen three movies...did you mean books in that post?

Most of your points have been hinted at or outright discussed inthe last two books...if you havent read them yet...I would highly recommend it.

Im also a little confused by what you are talking about there...grandfather? I dont think at anytime I recall seeing a grandfather mentioned....where are you getting that from?

My theory is that the Half-Blood Prince is someone from the past and only makes appearances in the book via a Pensieve. The plotline behind the HBP is closely related to Voldemort. I doubt that the HBP himself is very important to the central plot of the series. The purpose of this character is to reveal some crucial details/secrets of Voldemort's past, i.e. how Tom Riddle became You-Know-Who and why he could not be killed, etc. This is the reason why this whole plotline was originally planned in Book 2 (where Harry found out about Voldemort's past).

The HP series is apporaching its end. I expect Book 6 to start tieing up loose ends and setting up the stage for the climax of the series. A lot of questions should be answered in this book. I also expect this book to be even "darker" than the last one as there is now officially a war going on. I think that this book will have a faster pace than Book 5, which IMO is poorly constructed because it needs to lay down a lot of background information for the final two books.

I really hope this next book is good. So far, the series has been a mixed bag for me. The first book was fairly entertaining especially considering the target audience. The 2nd was just trash, as if Rawling didn't even bother to put any effort into them. The 3rd and 4th book were simply great, by far the best of the series in my opinion. And it really got me worked up for the Order of the Phoenix, only to be disappointed. It seemed was if Rawling ran out of new ideas. Hopefully, she doesn't continue the trend with this one.

As for half-blooded prince, does anyone remember what Voldemort's lineage was? When I saw the title, I thought it had to be him. That said, I think it's more likely that an intro of a new character.

I've enjoyed reading fantasy novels in the past, especially lengthy series (LoTR, Wheel of Time, Chronicles of Narnia), but for whatever reason cannot get into the Harry Potter craze.

Thought I would bump this up since the release is in two more days.

I just started reading the series about two weeks ago and I'm more than half way through Goblet of Fire (about to start Task Two of the Tourney). I read all of Chamber of Secrets on Sunday and I mean the whole thing front to back. Obviously I dont have anything to do so I have been power reading. I cannot wait to come home this weekend. Anyway, I absolutely love these damn books and cant wait for the new movie to come out. Everything that I have read has heaped praise on the new movie.

I've watched paint dry before. I've watched ONE Parry Hotter movie and I gotta say, I loved watching paint dry just a tad more. Exciting, is how you know they really ARE going to make it to the end of the movie and how, through Magic, they can do crap that would have solved the friggin' mistery in the friggin' beginning. That movie was a total waste of my pawn shop money.
You, sir... you... have made my day... possibly the entire week. *ugh* thanks :) .

it'll be a good present to a younger cousin or somethin. but they have all these laws newly implemented that i can't do anything with it. so i'll just hold onto it feeling special for a few more days and then send it over...i think there's a birthday for one of them.

If I were you, i'd eBay the crap out of it, since so many Pothead lovers--like the ones in this thread discussing who's got pimples where--would be interested in getting it before it's easily available. [IMG]
