The same cast is in Goblet of Fire. They are filming it right now. Book 4 was the best and 3 was second best. I liked 5 because it gave more character depth. You learned about the history of alot of the characters.
The first movie was terrible. The FX were lame, the directing style was flat, and the overall pacing was boring as hell. The second movie was 1000% better than the first, but definitely not up to the potential of what it could have been. Once again, the FX were ugly and the directing style was boring. At least this time, Columbus managed to provide an exciting Quidditch match, and the overall pacing was better (but still not great). I lay many of the problems on Chris Columbus. Yeah, he's definitely no Michael Bay or McG (i.e. HACK!). Still, I expected more from the director of Home Alone, especially considering the vast appeal of the books. Apparently, Warner Brothers agreed with me, considering he's been relegated to "Executive Producer" for the next few films...
I see it exactly the opposite way. I like the slower pace, and I don't need action scenes (bore), or an overabundance special effects etc. (I skip the quidditch scenes on the dvd) I like the story, and they stuck to the books almost 100%. Your comments remind me of some customer reviews I have read about 2001 A Space Oddesy on amazon.com, People say it is boring etc., (well crazy people do) The same thing could probably be said of Blade Runner. If I want to see a movie with all style and nothing else, I would go see any other movie.
Think Matrix here: If one exists, the other exists as well, You cannot have good without evil. There will be an ultimate face-off, etc etc etc... Part of him lives in Harry, so to get rid of all of him, Harry's gotta make the sacrifice.
By the same argument you could say that there will always be "good and evil", so, although they will battle for three more books, I say neither one dies...
So that Rowling can develop more twists and rake it in while having no worry about the ending. Just my two cents.
*** Book 5 Spoiler**** The way I understood Dumbledore was that the prophecy said that HArry and Voldemorte would face off and one would die. Which one that was was not determinied but that one of them would live and one of them would not. I don't remember anything about them saying or even alluding to that they both would die
thanks for catching my slip up. yeah GOF is being filmed as we speak. but book 5, 6, and 7 are a toss up. I think they might bring in new directors every new movie which would be cool sort of like animatrix where different people directors did different takes on the source material.
My theory is it's not Harry... but Neville... they share the same birthday and that was big clue in one of the books. Also watch Neville's progression throughout the books... he's slowly turning into a bad-ass.
HP rules! I'll be there Thursday, midnight showing BTW, HP is also out in Imax at the Marquee center in Edwards Cinema. Cant wait

I saw the midnight show last night. Definitely the best movie of the three by far, in my opinion. If you want the book to be followed page by page, you're very unrealistic and you will be dissapointed. The first half of the movie does somewhat seem to go by in a blur. Even still, the last half was sooooo much better then the endings of the first two and the movie still ended up being 2 and a half hours. This movie should do very very well at the box office - it will have many repeat viewers in the 13-18 age demographic. Go see it.
I liked that the other HP movies stayed true to the books and didn't pull a Lord of the Rings. I will probably see this on Sunday.
