He already did, I believe as early as Saturday. My thinking is, after this second contract they're going to sign him for the rest of the season. He's good depth to have in case of a playoff emergency.
I think the rockets organazation does a great job of finding good hard players without high draft picks and when they get the high pick they don't take gambles on the future of the ball club. They don't have the benefit of going to the finals and having old really good players signing for cheap either. It's not just morey, there's the scouts, the coaches,... Harris will be here one way or the other The Houston Rockets organization have earned my appreciation. (sounds like a good name for a thread that a rookie can't create. )
because if he gets injured during the next 10 days you have to cut him to make a roster spot. The team can give a guy 2 10 day contracts before signing him for the remainder of the season - it's the cautious approach. It doesn't mean that they WON'T sign him for the rest of the season, it just makes better sense to give him a second 10 day contract before resigning him for the remainder of the season. In all likelihood Mike will be here for the rest of the season and hopefully next season too
They did the same thing with Chuck his first season... two ten days then a min deal for the rest of the season. Of course that was in January not March... but I figure they will do the same for Harris.
I love Mike Harris's efforts. The Rockets has given another 10 days contract to Harris and I think the Rockets will eventually sign him till the end of season. But Harris's problem is he's undersized, not quick off the floor, and has a slow release of his jumpshoot. So, Harris's shots is very blockable. In 4 games, Harris has averaged 1.75 BA (Blocked FGA) per game. That's 29% of his FGAs.
Yup. He's even getting the attention of the national media which is saying something. Harris is a straight baller.
I think harris is a great eddition to the team since landry is out. To me his playin style is kinda like landry, always going after the ball, good rebounder, and had a graet middle range game and can dunk
I agree. He's a good athlete, but nowhere near the explosiveness of Carl. He also needs to learn to learn to draw contact, rather than just going up to slam it with two hands and expecting it work everytime. He has been rejected many times when he has tried to go to dunk it. But he is basically a Chuck Hayes with a little more offense so he should be kept definitely.
Mike is still a little bit nervous for playing int the NBA. He can hop and dunk under the ring. Usually he fakes and dunks. Last couple of games, he just hop and dunk and got blocked a lot. ( Carl is better, he can hop and hanging there fake in the air and then dunk. very few people can do that. I mean hop, jump without running.) Mike is a better rebounder than Carl. Carl is not bad though. Carl is a better defender than Mike. Both of them have a high shooting percentage. Mike will do better. He is average 81% FT percentage. He is still adjusting himself to the NBA. That's why he shoot FT badly last couple of games. He will get over it.
He is not the defender/rebounder Chuck is, though he is better offensively. Chuck is very underrated defensively, he is so good at getting a hand in to knock the ball away when the opposing players is bringing it up to shoot.
