If we can get him fairly cheap why not. Who knows what kind of shape he is in, or how durable he will be. I don't mind having a DMO coming off the bench to give guys fresh legs, or help out when are starters get in foul trouble. Our bench would be fantastic.
Just saying that you don't need to be an elite 3pt shooter to be in this offense and create the spacing that it requires. This is all built for Harden to get some openings in the lane. If DMo is a 35% shooter, teams would have to leave their C out there to guard him. DD
DMo is a great passer. Unselfish player that keps the ball moving. Good positional defender. Solid 3pt shooting big..
Dmo is trade bait at this point until I've seen more from him, Im not saying he cant come back and be a decent three point shooter just that its doubtful. Harden shoots 35% from three right now and thats only ok because its Harden (He does lots of other things at the elite level) but ideally for our offense and where our defense is you should be at 38% or more in a D'antoni system if you really want to win games with only your offense and I would rather just develop Harrell. If you look at the old suns all their players were well above average at the three and thats how they got away with not playing D. The guys in the middle are where they got their bit of toughness. We need toughness not more soft. Package Sewer Goat and Dmo and get them gone for someone who can defend and shoot the three off the bench and really fits the system. Dmo likes to post up and there's no room for that in our new offense.
DMo or no Dmo, Monster Harrell deserves more minutes. The dude is all energy, hustle, fire and passion. And he can actually play. He has all the intangibles as well as being decent on the court. Harrell needs at least 20 min a game with or without DMo. If Dmo signs, he will have to fight for minutes with Nene because Capela and Rhyno will see majority of the big man minutes with hopefully Harrell at 20 MPG. Healthy competition can only be good. Let's see who ahs the cojones to earn their minutes.
That doesn't make him merely a post up player, it just makes him a better post up player than Harrell. Dmo's a much better passer too, mid range and three point shooter. I look forward to see him play under D'Antoni. I feel way back when he mentioned Dwight Howard having to catch him if can, that he finally gets to play the way he envisioned playing when he came to the league.
Philosophically we don't want mid range shots, Dekker and Anderson are better from 3, Dekker is better defensively, Harrell is better at finishing at the rim and everything out to 10 feet, also better in transition. So yes, the only real beneficial skill he brings to the forward position is post ups. If you want to say he reduces Brewers minutes, then I will give you that. He could possibly be better at reducing Brewers minutes.
Once again for the people who just can't seem to let go. DMo's back has put Dmo's post-up game on punishment!!! He will no longer be that player from 2-3 seasons ago!!! He will most likely be the player from last season!
Why do you talk about DMo's 3 point shooting and don't mention that Harrell has not made a single 3 point shot in the NBA. Or that Harrell is 51% free throw shooter.
