Depending on the program, they factor it differently. I know the WSOP tournament of champs last night showed the odds that the person in the lead in the hand would win and showed the odds of person who was behind that they wouldn't lose. These are two different things as the odds for not losing factors in ties while winning does not.
I think most don't. The one that most likely takes folded cards into account is the one on Fox Sports.
showing the hold cards and giving the percentages is what makes poker fun to watch. it's the excitement of knowing what should be done but knowing that the players don't. from what i gather, they didn't show the hold cards until recently so i'm sure that helped the popularity. and ESPN's production is the best. they have some british version on fox sports sometimes, terrible. low money amounts, boring commentating, weird format on how they show cards and such. WSOP on ESPN anyday.
The good thing about the WPT is that they only show the final table of 5 or 6 players, and they have 2 hours of coverage. So, they can show a lot more interesting hands. On espn, they usually just show the coin flip hands. For example, they showed the whole final table in 1 hour. Earlier in the summer, they squeezed the final tables of the previous tournaments into an hour as well, and I think it's boring just watching coin flip after coin flip.
I agree, Chad's terrible. The only announcer that annoys me more is Bill Worrell. The majority of the things he says are utterly worthless.
Awesome AB! Have you met Shana Hiatt? And when is AndyMoon going to do his Poker thing? Back to the topic: A lot of the young guns are good, but there are a crap full of poker players out there because of ESPN. I really look forward to going back to Vegas. The last few times I was there it was a blast, and I expect even more poker rooms than before. ESPN show way, way, way, way, too many bad beats. Norm is very funny at times. I like Bill Walton, but I understand how y'all might not like that type of humour. Anyhow, back to the bad beats.... it creates a false sense of wins and gives many crappy players the false impression of the benefits of chasing. Anyhow, "I don't play poker," but one day I might get pulled back in.
