I almost called it "Stalker" because that is what it reminded me of. Most definitely the darkest photo I've ever taken.

    Very Cool Jeff.

Glad to hear you're selling! Do you have other venues to showcase?

I'm at the "just bought my first decent camera and taking crap load of pictures" stage. Lot's to learn but having lot's of fun too.

    Flickr...going to remember that.

    Thanks for sharing.

The actual amount you got paid is almost irrelevant. It's just cool to be able to have a book with a picture you took on it.

I wrote a chapter (and developed a data model for the cd) for a book (Universal Meta Model by David Marco - Wiley Publishing). I spent 100's of hours on that thing with all the editing etc... and got $500. But it looks nice on a geeky resume.

I'm jealous as hell....not that someone bought it, but because you took such a bad ass photo.

Great news Jeff. Flickr is awesome. Lots of stock photo guys and other people scour the site for photos to use. Congrats.

Not really. I've had a few of my photos bought/used for things. A college magazine in Amsterdam used a photo I took of Kinky Friedman at the Art Car parade last year for a story they did on him. I've had a few photos named "Photo of the Day" by Houstonist.com, sold a few to various people and had some used for Schmap guides to Houston.

I just do it for fun, so anything that comes from it is just a bonus for me. I started shooting when I was just a kid. My dad has a photojournalism background and got me a Nikon EM when I was probably 10. I still have it in fact. When I got my D70 a couple years ago, I started taking tons of pictures. I probably shot 10,000 or more in 2006 alone.

It's just a great hobby to have.

Send me a jpg image of the photo via email and I'll send you a customized card that you could use to send out an announcement of your success.

Once I get a better feel for the camera and my pictures start showing it, I have a few venues available to me. My wife has her own hair salon here in Denton that has oodles of wall space where she would show my pictures. And her best friend, in Fort Worth, has an art studio who also said would show my effort.

I bring this up because I might not have a lot to show at first, so maybe having some of yours in the mix might make it worth while for all concern.

You bet, excellent hobby. Although I hope some unexpected income can come from this.

Anyway, drop me a line if you're interested in the salon & studio idea. BTW, did you ever hear about any bars here in Denton to play at?

Jeff, You got a photo of someone I work with who tried out for the Rowdies (but didn't make it) and would probably like the photo. Is there a way I could get a high-res of it? It would be a cool surprise.

    Jeff,

I may have skipped across your answer if you've already answered this, but how did they come across your photo? Just by chance?

I like the shot and see how it makes a perfect book cover. Knowing me I would have cropped the **** out of it taking away all of the black space that works perfect for a book title and all.

Drop me an email with the one you are talking about.

Faos: The guy was just searching on Flickr and saw it in my Photostream. I actually liked all the negative black space in it. I'm pretty careful about cropping so I don't wipe out useful space. :)
