Did you listen to the ad? Put aside some of that reading between the lines because some of us didn't see that – hence my racist ad question.

The last part of that ad was made him out to be sleazy and was over the line even in Corker’s opinion (the republicans put the ad out and Corker spoke out against it.) and mine but not because of the person’s skin color, but because it implied something to lower his character (he was a player) that couldn’t be proven as a fact.

But what I did see/hear was someone taking money from the largest players in the p*rn industry - while making commercials in a church. Someone who didn't vote on numerous major decisions. Someone who voted to support abortion laws – which I’m against. Made visits to the Playboy mansion (hence the girl in the end) as a family man. That person doesn’t represent someone most TNs can trust or back. And that has nothing to do with his skin color.

I’ve voted for women and I’ve voted for men. I’ve voted for blacks. I’ve voted for whites. I’ve voted for Hispanics. I voted for people who I don’t know where their ancestors are from nor do I care. If they have the same beliefs as I do, or as close as you can possibly come (lesser of 2 evils as it sadly is most of the time), I’m voting for them. The last presidental election had no one I could vote for so I voted for me and my wife (would have been the first lady vp!).

There are whites that only vote, or lean toward voting for whites and there are blacks that only vote, or lean toward voting for blacks (when possible). I don’t follow either crowd and I didn't vote for Corker because Ford was black.

more importantly, Tenn is not the land of Lincoln.

Even if Obama had been in Harold Ford's stead, Corker (w the help of RNC) would still win. and Harold Ford would win a US Senate seat in Ill

You're quite right there... is it still okay for me to mock Obama worship though? :D

After Tennessee gave the world Al Gore, they decided to repent forever (LOL).

Anyway, I'd vote for Harold Ford long before Barak Obama. Ford has clearly defined, logical positions. Obama is an outstanding orator, but at the end of the day I'm not sure who he really is. Time will tell. I hope Ford gets into a position where he can develop more international experience. If so, in time he should be a formidable player on the national scene.

Well, for starters, he's DEAD. Should I go on?

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking about Gerald Ford. Carry on.

Ford doesn't have the vision Obama does. Obama has a larger vision, and the idea that we don't need to fram issues in the same tired ways. We can bring people around on issues, and change the team mentality that goes on, and work on issues that important to AMericans as opposed to Democrats or Republicans.

More importantly he has the ability and charisma to articulate that vision, and stands a good chance of getting it implemented.

Ford is very moderate, has ideas around the traditional way of framing them, and could be a good member of government. But he doesn't have the same vision that it takes to move the country on the next step in our development.

So far I can't award any "vision" points when comparing Obama and Ford. There's no hard proof. However, Ford's moderate, civilized approach to politics is a turn on for me, an average Joe business owner. Obama looks good, but that big horse really looked terrific to the Trojans a few mythical years back.

The bitter fruit of the southern strategy doesn't taste good sometimes.

ford's being floated for DNC chair:

    http://www.tnr.com/blog/theplank?pid=56467

    [rquoter]A PUTSCH AT THE DNC?:

Some big name Democrats want to oust DNC Chairman Howard Dean, arguing that his stubborn commitment to the 50-state strategy and his stinginess with funds for House races cost the Democrats several pickup opportunities.

The candidate being floated to replace Dean? Harold Ford.

Says James Carville, one of the anti-Deaniacs, "Suppose Harold Ford became chairman of the DNC? How much more money do you think we could raise? Just think of the difference it could make in one day. Now probably Harold Ford wants to stay in Tennessee. I just appointed myself his campaign manager." [/rquoter]

a jesus lovin' gun supportin' believer at the DNC? perhaps they'll put in a cement pond so ev'rybody can go swimmin' with jethro and ellie mae...

Say what you will about Carville, he is no fool. He married a Republican, didn't he (LOL)? In all seriousness, Carville is a brilliant strategist.

Strategic blunder, IMO, resulting in Democratic "non-gains" from moderates like me.

Obama's record isn't historied in national politics because of freshness. I am basing his vision on his own words, and spoken ambitions.

He is someone who has reached across the aisle to work with REpublicans, and won over many conservative constituants during is time in the land of Lincoln and his initial campaign for the Senate.

The words are okay, but personally I haven't seen enough actions on which to judge. Time will be his ally or enemy -- how much will he be able to accomplish in the next two to six years? What kind of hatchet job will Hillary do on him during the next two years?

I think that is part of it, and that is why I think he would do better running in '08 as opposed to later.

It will be interesting to see how Hillary eviscerates him during the next two years.
