on a side note: are you on keto because of seizure related stuff or to lose weight? from what ive heard long-term, its pretty unhealthy for you if you are on it to lose weight
Carbanation should be the at the bottom of the list of things to worry about in the ingredients of soda. I think he's more concerned about the high fructose corn syrup and acid. Carbonation itself is just C02 and most of it is lost before it even hits your mouth, and most of whats left is metabolized like carbohydrates. Like someone else said in another it might help with indigestion or nausea, like alma-seltzer. It does upset the body's chemical balance and soft drinks are unhealthy in general so i would just stay away from coke and stick to water.
In high school my senior year, I would make it habit to stop by mcdonalds and grab a large dr. pepper.. every.. single.. day.. lol It was terrible. And the days I knew I couldn't make it to MD's, my stomach would tear up inside wanting its fix. And now that I have stopped drinking carbonated drinks for the past few years it now upsets my stomach if I drink it period.
Oh, i meant to say fructose and sucrose, sorry about that. Sucrose is what is extracted from the sugar cane.

I stopped drinking any soda for about 3 years back in HS, and eventually I decided to pick it back up again. There has been no change in my health during those 3 years or since I started again
I wouldn't worry about it as it has a minimal effect on your digestive system. Here are some advantages of drinking it. http://www.ehow.com/list_7464958_advantages-sparkling-water_.html
Sparkling water or tonic with a twist of lemon/lime would be a good alternative to have with a meal instead.
I started drinking just water a few years ago. Greatest decision ever. It's the easiest step in trying to live a more healthy life.
I used this courier company for my practice a few years back. Their dispatcher is an angry, obese, chain smoking middle age man. He also has a habit of drinking 2 liters of MoutainDew everyday. One day my office manager informed me that he has a heart attack and drops dead while dispatching his drivers.
+1. Aspartame is horrible for your body. Flavored drinks are all bad for you. I cut out all sodas in 2010 and have never felt better or smarter. If you need the caffeine, drink coffee or tea.
for losing weight, most people associate keto with high fat, but not every meal is a chunk of butter with fatty meats, i eat a lot of veggies too, but i don't actually lose any weight unless i eat high fat... i was impressed when it knocked out an initial 10 lbs relatively quickly, i'm still trying to stick to keto, but i'm not as strict with the rules as the first few weeks i would say i could drink maybe a six pack of soda a day just less than a year ago, since keto i've switched to water, and diet snapple when i need some taste; diet snapple is awesome
