Some just aren't worth playing, though. A game that's hard because of crappy design like Indiana Jones doesn't count.
For me its Ikaruga... I cant get any where past level 3.... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wWxIKj4syQs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I recently beat Dead Space 3... by far the worst in the series IMO, had a boring story line and the co-op was lame. I did enjoy creating my own weapons though.
I already voted a NES game on this thread but another NES that comes to mind is Zelda II: Adventure of Link.
I completely agree on this 100%, they baby these games and tell them exactly where to go and even give them a freaking light trail like on dead space... on Resident Evil part 1 they literally throw you in a huge masion with NO direction but we figured it out and it was a fantastic game.
I loved Syndicate. For me, hardest was TMNT, and the thing I remember is not even liking the damn game! But you know, moms gets it for you, and it's one of 2 games you have, so...play it. Hate it, but play it.
I don't think it's that. Since games started having save points it's just made them easier. That TMNT game, once you lost all four of your turtles you had to start all over again, and outside of Leonardo and Donatello the other two were kinda useless against most of the bosses. I think it'd be cool to see a remake of that game like Capcom did with Mega Man and Bionic Commando.
oh man you're absolutely right! that one level where you have to go to the bottom level before the spikes close in on you was insane. I think it was right before the boss battle. Yea that game was ridiculous. I never beat it as a kid but I think I did in college with an emulator.
My hardest games -(NES) Battletoads/2players- There is nothing worse then being 6 and having your older brother who is 12 want to play this game with you. The ridiculing I had to suffer through because of that God Damn hover board level still haunts me. FU** THAT GAME. -(SNES) Super Punch-Out- I have never met anybody that has beaten that game. I only saw the first bald twin once...Almost cried when it took less then 30 seconds to be beaten. Have never seen him again. -(SNES) Spawn- Could never get passed the 3rd level. Think that game was broken. -(Arcade) Robocop- My mom and dad bought the family the Robocop Arcade game and I spent hours trying to get pass the 3rd stage. Was the greatest/worse game ever.
i actually remember beating that wate rlevel on tmnt.. the toughest game for me ever was that ghouls n goblins or ghosts in goblins. was damn near impossible for me.. that and playing all-madden ai from like 06-11..
The Tmnt water level was so frustrating! I was able to get past it, but I think I always got stuck on the subsequent level.
