He's averaging 6.8 pull up 3s per game at 33.8%... gross. I think this is really hurting us. Also shooting a career low this year at .350% from 3
Massively hurting his FG% because of this. As I said, not helping the team as well as himself as a player. Harden has taken the second most threes just behind Steph Curry, while hitting at average ~ below average rate. Just a bad decision all around.
He has shot better in the beginning but do not expect him to shoot good percentages with his wrist now.
He can shoot 3s early during the game but limit them during heavily guarded close near end games. He claims to trust his teammates anytime during a game but obviously he doesn't and plays hero iso ball when games are close.
he's only being assisted on 31% of his threes which is a career low by far...his previous career low was 48%
This is what they envisioned. We have better shooters now but we still live and die by it. The system has not changed. Harden just got better at passing the ball and creating for others in this MDA environment.
Many say Harden was basically made in Morey's laboratory, but he really should be a 40% 3pt shooter for that to be the case. If he could improve his efficiency beyond the arc, he really would be an unstoppable force
he doesnt take the best shots and he's not a good shooter, maybe cuz he doesnt take the best shots. after his first year here its been long enough, his shot selection isnt gonna change. he'll always take bad shots. i think part of it is cuz he's forced to do too much.
People saying harden isn't a good shooter are letting recent performance cloud their judgement. His mechanics are perfect, he simply has become too predictable and takes too many poor threes. Career 37% from three but this season he really has needed to use his head a bit more. He can get to the rim whenever he wants, he knows his wrist is busted, why keep shooting the three ball? Attack attack attack. Dantoni needs to run some plays to get him more open shots too all of his attempts are basically contested.
He's great on catch-and-shoots. But alas, we have nobody else on the roster that can facilitate more often so he can change those numbers around.
Sure you have a high powered offense that clicks a lot, but come pressure situations this team is like a deer in the headlights. They don't know how to do anything other than chuck from3
Honestly he is not that great of shooter at this point to be attempting so many pull up 3's. His strengths lie elsewhere. That is why I laugh at low IQ delusional fools like jordnnn who claimed Harden could be a 50-40-90 player in this league.
This really is the case. It's the only chink in his offensive repertoire. He is super efficient and had a ts% of .615 which is elite. And that's with a 35% shot from 3. If he were to shoot 40% from 3 he would probably have a ts% around 70+ which would be iconic. It's the last part of his game to improve. That being said. I do not enjoy his pull up3 frequency. He does it way too much at way to low of a conversion rate. It's especially troublesome because he has fell in love with it at end of game situations. Last night the smart play was PnR and try and get to the rim (which was there almost all night) or if it gets crashed kick out. Especially with his wrist hurt. I've seen Harden each year drastically improve one area significantly. One year it was the post up, step back mid range jumper. This year it's been his facilitating and controlling the offense. With 3s being of such importance to this system and offense. I strongly believe he will work on his shot all summer and become a 38+% 3 pt shooter next year.
