Ben Simmons not only can't shoot, but REFUSES to shoot the basketball. He also can't shoot FTs. You'd be INSANE to build a team around a guy with this many liabilities

More like LIABILITY (as in singular) as he can't shoot period. He's more of a floor general/table setter than a scorer and you'd need to put shooters/scorers around him. What you have in Ben Simmons is your elite faciliator/playmaker to build around.

Still think this is the best trade idea I've seen.

Add some picks and we're in business.

Sham's has reported that the sixers aren't incline at the moment to include ben simmons in trade proposals for harden.

Which of course is probably no surprise as Morey would never begin negotiations by showing all his cards.

Furthermore, their isn't any good offer or potentially great offer for harden at the moment.

Rockets need to start leaking potential offers from other teams aside from the crappy nets one to leverage against Morey and the sixers.

if we cant get Beal ( and we cant, coz Harden will never want to go the wizards) then i think Harden for Simmons is a good trade. He is only 24, already and all defensive player and he can run the floor and make a team around him good.
Granted, he cant shoot, but we haven't seen his full potential yet, playing with embiid, who is as slow as it comes. If you surround him with shooters it should be a decent team, until we can get a second star.
By the way, this scenario is definitely without Russ in the team, which can be traded for someone like Blake Griffin maybe, which would suit more our new style.
We are not getting Value out of Russ.

Simmons is a huge downgrade. The guy can't shoot a lick, he will get eaten up alive in the Western Conference.

The centerpiece of doing a deal with Philly would be the picks in return.

Picks? **** picks. What are the chances you getting a player of that caliber and potential in Simmons with those “picks”?

The mediocre non-lottery picks we’d be getting? Lol, the centerpiece is definitely Simmons, not those mediocre picks.

As a big Harden fan, we have done a lot for him, the reason he wants out now is because we suck and we suck mostly because of the Westbrook trade he pushed for. Morey was the GOAT in my eyes, but we owe these guys nothing. Get the best offer you can, if it means Harden ends up in some place like Sacramento or Orlando, then so be it. There is no way we will be attracting any big name free agents with Tilman so the perception of the team and ownership does not matter, and will not matter for some time.

Simmons + Thybulle + Horford + 2 FRP (unprotected) + 2 SRP then maybe I dont shoot myself.

At least not in a vital spot.

if we’re taking on Horford’s contract as well then I think there’s gotta be at least 4 1st round picks in the deal

Let's make it 5 FRP just for old times sake then.

Do you really think he is an "elite facilitator/playmaker"?

James Harden is elite. Is Ben Simmons really such a special shot creator maestro, or are we just looking at his assist totals?

Just like John Lucas helped Clint find his jump shot.

    I'll just leave this here.

Ben Simmons highest single season FT%: .621
    Shaquille O'Neal highest single season FT%: .622
Clint Capela highest single season FT%: .636

Literally Chuck Hayes is a better shooter than Ben Simmons.

He's elite. He creates more open 3 point shots than any other player in the league.

Horford was the main problem with this idea.

It would be like taking on Harris.

It's not worth it even for Simmons. You're locking in your cap for three/four years.

I'm all in on trading for Simmons but not for taking on an albatross that will cost us assets to lose in a season.

Russ does that too, but I wouldn't call him elite. He just shovel passes to shooters for mediocre threes after mediocre drives.

There is a major difference in the way Lebron/Harden/CP3 set up their teammates, IMO.

Horford only had 3 years and they'd be taking Gordon who is over the 4 years making about the same as Horford over 3.

And Horford doesn't have injury issues.
