The plus one now aligns with a super max 10 yrs of service contract. That's what is key and why he will most likely stay for 8 more years now.
This is exactly how it works though, teams like the Warriors and Heat do this crap all the time. Corey Brewer isn't eating into any cap since his contract is running short. Teams actually look for expiring contracts in the NBA... Other players like Dmo and Ariza are actually useful players that teams will happily take. It's true. Cap space is overrated unless that cap space is being used by useless players on really long contracts...like what the Knicks or Nets usually do.
My personal opinion is that Gordon Hayward would be a perfect fit. He isnt an alpha dog, a really good player, but he doesnt care about being THAT guy.
Good deal but seriously weakens us in the short term + with all the contender talk, I'm saying we're ****ed and Morey will not leave anytime soon nor change. Mediocrity forever!
This. Morey executed brilliantly, we should all be thrilled. As an aside, I can't help but think that the DWade and Durant signings accelerated this decision.
The warriors cleared 30 million? 4+ contracts? When? Who has cleared 30 million to sign a FA in a day?
How anybody can say negative **** about this blows my mind. This is the only good thing that has happened since us beating the Clippers last year.
It's still the off season, there are still a plethora of moves that can be made. Why does everyone equate optimism to being a Morey zombie or player only fan? I just don't get the doom and gloomers who believe that if things are not exactly the way you want, the sun will not rise tomorrow. Appreciate the good you find around you instead of always focusing on what you don't have. Get upset, you're human of course, just don't stay upset. Not healthy man.
Who says anything about doing it in a day? No, but the Warriors and Heat go after every big FA even without the space. The Warriors could have signed Howard when he was a UFA and didn't have the space. They simply were just going to make moves to do so. We do not have 5 year contracts on the books belonging to horrible players. Look, clearly Morey and the Rockets know they can clear space to sign a star player.
Love the signing, Harden is a Rocket for life. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/y_eYWD9cwak" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
did any of those had to clear 30 million in capspace with shedding 4 contracts at least? You are talking about gutting a team. Anyway whatever. If you don't see the drawback of the lack of flexibility then fine. But people here can't go " Morey makes miracles and will do the impossible" and then proceed straight up and say how he sucks in the next 10 threads.
