Being a better overall player does not make him a better player though. This is the thing I was talking about. Yeah, Paul George is just on another level than Harden it's not even close It took all of 16 games to decide this.
Yeah, and they've played a bunch of dumpster fire eastern conference teams. Let's see what his stats are this week.
Even if this jump in scoring last, which I doubt given that it's been decreasing every week, he's still not a playmaker. The Pacers are in the bottom half of the league in offense. They're making their bread and butter off their defense but their schedule has the lowest SOS by a considerable margin(average winning % of the opposing team) in the entire league. Probably a bit easier to rely on defense shutting down your opponent when they suck. http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings
Wait, what? Paul George is on pace for having a top 5 defensive rating in the history of the NBA. And he's a top 5 scorer in the league on a team that plays a very slow pace. He's a better player than Harden period, objectively speaking.
And your point? Melo is sucking it up shooting the ball, and he plays in the East. Kyrie Irving is sucking it up shooting the ball and he plays in the East. What does strength of schedule have to do with INDIVIDUAL performance?
The question was who would you rather have right now. Right now Paul George is the better player. George is a top 5 scorer and one of the best wing defenders in the NBA, is that not better than Harden overall? People use your head, stop being a homer Paul George is currently the better player. Now if James Harden decides to play defense for a full season, then he might be the better player.
Exactly what I said. Being the better overall player does not make you the better player. If you truly believed that then a bunch of role players would be better than star players. That's why there is a argument on whose better between Dirk and Garnett. Garnett by far was the better overall player but what Dirk has done he has done better than anyone else. There is no stopping that. When Harden is at his best, there is no stopping him. Can't say the same for Paul George. He rarely imposes his will on offense and just scores within the rhythm of his team. The Pacers will need more than that to beat the Heat, because that's what superstars do.
Harden played defense last night. So he's now the better player. I mean you're using 16 games to decide this, so I'm using one game against the Spurs to decide my opinion. You're not judging this on a full season of play. Because if you were, Harden would STILL be better by default because of PGs average scoring season last season.
Caremelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving are part of those garbage teams and they're overrated to start out with
This is so false. So you think Carmelo is better than Lebron? Carmelo is a better scorer than Lebron, when Carmelo is at his best there is no stopping him. LMAO! Lebron is the better overall player, he is the better player. Basketball is more than scoring points playa, you have to play defense and team ball. Paul George is probably the 2nd most complete wing player in the NBA behind Lebron.
Paul George can play the SG or SF, Harden can only play SG. And Spurs kept going to Kawai Leonard down the stretch because he had a mismatch with Harden defending him. I don't think Kawai could take advantage of Paul George as easily.
Lol, Lebron is a better scorer than Carmelo too. Lebron is better at everything. Better rebounder, better playmaker, better defender...Lebron does EVERYTHING extremely well. He scores better than Melo too, he just doesn't have to and doesn't want to. Only thing Carmelo does better is shoot, but that does not make him a better scorer than Lebron. You are. You are the one putting him ahead of Harden because of 16 games, not me. I don't care about your "Right now." argument, that's silly. 1/4 of the season hasn't even been played yet. That's like saying Harden is the best scorer since Wilt Chamberlain after his first two games last season. Yeah, and Leonard didn't do much. So Harden wasn't really taken advantage of. They just took Leonard out because he wasn't defending Harden and he was doing nothing on offense as well.
And again, what does that have to do with individual performances? We've had a lot of star scorers who thrive individually on bad teams (McGrady, Kobe, Kyrie himself...). We're talking about individual performances here, not team performance. The fact that you link George's brilliant individual start due to his team facing bad teams is absurd.
Exactly. Now read my post again, and look at what you said in this post. You are exactly right my friend. #ThinkBeforeYouPost
Off topic sir. This is Harden vs Durant. However, you are more than welcome to start a Durant vs George thread, and I will debate you in that thread. Until then lets try and stay on topic.
