Harden is a better lead player IMO. He can run an offense to an extent that Paul George can. But if you have another star, George's game fits better.
Paul George is a nice nice player, but he is still a notch below Harden IMO. I think Paul is a great player to have on a defensive minded team, where his deficiencies are covered up. He has some terrible iso's that make Harden's worst look good. Paul George is a great third option on a defensive minded team. He is what Chandler Parsons wants to be.
Paul George = Scottie pippen. Terrific 2nd option on a contending team. They'd be really scary together.
Hard to say, Paul George has better defensive upside but Harden is a proven offensive weapon. It probably would depend on the coach, I don't think a inexperienced or soft coach would be able to get the best out of George, especially given how long it has taken him to get himself to this level where he made previous star Granger look disposable.
Typical hater thread... And we already have a Paul George type player in Parsons. And Parsons is a better shooter. Check the numbers.
Hello! Paul George's contract is 2.5 million for the next two years. Harden is at 15-16 million. They are close in ability but the contract easily puts George over the top. With George's contract, you could bring in another star. George + Star > Harden
Yep, don't see Harden worth 12 million more than George. I honestly think George has got a good shot of leading his Pacers team over Miami. And if they win it all? What then? George still hasn't proven he can lead a team?
True he isn't worth 12 mil more, but you can pretty much guarantee George is getting the 4 or 5 year max extension offer this summer. So 1 more year where the money difference plays a role.
its pretty close. Pro for George - He's almost 1 year younger than Harden - He's more gifted physically and athletically than Harden - His ceiling is higher than that of Hardens due to the previous 2 points - Elite defensive player - All around player. Even if his shot is not falling, he's capable of positively impacting the game through his defense, rebounding, assists etc Con for Paul - Need to work on his handle - Need to work on creating for himself - Need to work on his post game to exploit his physical advantages Pro for Harden - Excellent offensive player - Able to create for himself and his team mates Con for Harden - Have been a defensive liability so far this year - Have a tendency of being completely shut down by long athletic elite wing defenders. When he can't drive against these players, he starts chucking contested iso 3s.
Why are people talking about contracts here? P.G is going to get close to /if not the max. Just because his deal is timelagged means crap all.
If Harden had Hibbert and West this isn't even a conversation not too take anything away from George but come on. Harden carried the Roxs all year.
They are two completely different players, so its hard to compare. Offensively, George will never be the all around player Harden can or will be. I have seen people on here compare George to TMac but that is way way off base. The biggest difference between the two is that George isnt anywhere close to the ball handler/facilitator Tmac was, not even close. Ive said over and over again on here that players who make it to the NBA level, no matter how young, will not and can not become an elite ball handler/facilitator. It has never happened. The skills required to be an elite ball handler is just something you develop at a young age, not an the college or NBA level. If George keeps working on his game, he will be a Scottie Pippen with less handling abilities but a better scorer, which isnt bad at all.... Harden, on the hand, is simply horrible on defense, but the good news here is that defense is something that can be worked on. Its really just about effort IMO. Harden to me has a higher ceiling than George because I think he could be a good defender if he wanted to and its something that can be more realistically achieved rather than George becoming a good ball handler/facilitator.
LMFAO at the people saying "it's not even close" one way or the other... By far the stupidest thing people have been saying in this thread. No matter which way you lean, Harden or George, it's obviously close, and the one's saying it isn't are just delusional.
The only reason Pacers have a good shot is because of Roy Hibbert. He 6-7 inches taller than everyone on the heat. George is doing well but Roy Hibbert being on the inside is helping him. Also having West and George Hill is nice too. George can't be a successful first option. He can be an amazing 2nd option. Hes basically the pinnacle of what all the Rockets fans want Parsons to be.
Both these guys are young, why don't we talk about this when both on their peak? Right now I think Harden is a better leader, better offensive player and dude took a young team with no experience on his back to all the way to the playoffs. Paul George sure is a better defender and that's it. But both of these guys will get better and when they do, that's when we should start a discussion of who's better. Right now Harden wins by a little. But if you ask me who I would build my franchise with I have to say The Beard.
