The whole league, it's players, coaches, scouts & commentators think very highly of nearly all of our rotation players...it's just for some reason us Houston fans expect computer game performances & infallible consistency on a nightly basis. One bad game can sign your death warrant in Houston sports fans eyes, go through a form slump & you go from future all-star, glue guy or great all round player to a tradable commodity or overrated asset in an instant! The League is in love with Parsons, Terrence Jones & Harden. They are fascinated by Daniels, in awe of Howard, covetous of Asik and still intrigued with the enigma that is Jeremy Lin & Linsanity. But here as a Houston fan we see Harden handcuffed by quite possibly the worst officiating ever, by getting nearly no calls & being held off the the ball in every possession, in the first round of a playoff series and he goes from everybody's favorite player The 'Chairman of the Beard' to a such a worthless asset that we can't even celebrate his achievement of getting into the top 5 in MVP voting! When was the last time anyone from our beloved organisation was mentioned in the top 5 of MVP voting? The guy is 24...how many 24 year old can do what he's doing? People have already forgot him sitting out 4th quarters of games after scoring 35-40 points, his role in helping us to 54 wins & him luring Dwight Howard to H-Town...think about that for a second, someone left the mighty LA Lakers & Kobe to be in a Houston Rockets uniform & play alongside Harden. When was the last time that happened? We all hear about how Houston sports is cursed...maybe it's all the negative energy that we direct towards our star players and the unreal expectations that we put on them. The greatest example of us hating our own is in the poll...66% of y'all disagree with the NBA experts in regards to Hardens value to not only his team, but the League. 66%...that's sad. Just saying...
1. LeBron 2. Durant 3. C. Paul 4. Melo 5. P. George I can think of more I would trade him for but you said 5.
Paule George????? Seriously ????? Ppl still think this glorified role player is better than harden, smh. PG is a better version of Trevor ariza and that isnt saying much, watch PG clank mid range jumpers all game after dribbling threw his legs 6 times. Dudes the most overrated "star" in the league on the most overrated team hands down.
It does not matter how old Harden is. It matters if he is improving or is willing to improve his miserable defense. A team with his franchise player playing no defense will never be a real contender.
Until our superstar play some defence, he is not Top 5. You can score as much as you like but giving up as much is not getting the job done.
Congrats. He deserved it as a regular season award. The Rockets won 54 games in great part because of him. Still laid an egg in the playoffs though.
Number 1, Harden is a superstar despite in spite of his defensive defficiencies. Number 2, don't you ever give up on a superstar, especially one that is as young as Harden is. Talk to him, and point out areas of improvement for next as goals to be achieved. Number 3, not making an excuse for him or Parsons, but McHale ran them into the ground during the regular season. Way too may minutes. Both looked physically and mentally worned out even before the playoffs started.
Can we change the title to Harden officially a top 5 scorer in regular season and revote again? The original one doesn't make sense.
It says a lot about the fanbase on this board, that we routinely hate on our own player, well our is a very loose term, I think we've become well aware that a large portion aren't really team fans. The nba took a poll of 120 odd people from all over the country with varying allegiances to every single team and think that Harden is a better player than the people we have here. I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not really.
The recent hate is absolutely warranted. Showing up for 1 out of 6 playoff games was inexcusable. Having said that, it is perfectly fine to be have a rough playoff series and still be considered a top 5 MVP caliber player
