You're r****ded...Westbrook is the reason for his poor performance...dude is jacking up 25-30 shots a game. How can Durant get in rhythm when Westbrook is trying to be the guy???
In the 6 playoff games, Dwight was by far our best player. BUT, the MVP award/voting is based on regular season preformance. No, it does NOT include the playoffs. Now if you watched all the 82 Rockets regular season games, how is Dwight Howard ahead of James Harden then? Yes, Harden needs to work on his defense, we all know that. Even he knows it. But does that negate all the good things he does for this team? You keep mentioning defense. Nash won 2 MVP's and was/is a mediocre defender. Harden was only 5th in voting and you're already questioning it. SMH
Btw MVP votes is far from an indicator of who are the best players in the nba. Thats like saying Rose was the best player in the nba at one point.
the point about voting at certain points is true but i still think dwight is better. He scores and defends and he does both very well. Harden's defensive liability really detracts from his offensive abilities. It doesn't help if you score 30+ but let let nobodies go off for career highs so often.
I think Harden doesn't flop as much as they do. He's got some offseason work to do. Maybe he should take a page out the blazers playbook and workout with the Timbers this summer....
This makes me feel worse about exiting the playoffs early. Top 5 MVP candidate and arguably a Top 2 or 3 overall C. That shouldn't happen.
Harden is young... but he's not going to improve in this environment... no one on the coaching staff that can call him out and get his respect... and no one on the roster that can do it for the coaches...
Well he improved this year in efficiency goin from .600 to .618 TS%. Most of which can be attributed to a huge improvement in his 2pt FG%. Another jump like that and he is in the Durant/Lebron territory of offensive efficiency. He improved in PER if you put any stock into that. Also increased his assist percentage and his win shares per 48. You may be right about the defensive side of things though. I want to believe it's something that with age and continued scrutiny will finally make him realize just how important it is, but he may need someone we don't currently have on the team or coaching staff to get through to him.
There has been a MVP winner that was out in the first round too. His name is Dirk...and someone said they would take Dirk over Harden. Be patient folks, you must fail before you succeed. Have faith in your guy instead of always trying to trade him away at a moments notice.
these awards are for the regular season. he was the best and most consistent regular season player on the rockets. top 5 i dunno but def top 10 harden = regular season mvp dwight - playoffs mvp
