Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The Kool Aiders would like to believe it was all Curry and Klay and Barnes and Green and nothing to do with going from Jackson to Kerr
His game did do the talking. If it can, you don't need to. But, if it can't, you certainly don't have any right to go around calling yourself the best. But my objection doesn't have to do with letting your game do the talking, or stay humble stay hungry, or whatever. It just strikes me as false confidence. I think there's some meme running around NBA circles that says you have to believe you're the best before you can be the best. So you have to publicly assert you're the best in order to unlock your potential to someday become the best. Now Harden has more cred than most players, but I approach all NBA boasting with cynicism.
Maybe Harden should've won MVP last year, maybe he shouldn't have. Either way, I can't stand people acting like Harden should've won the MVP by a landslide. Give credit where credit is due. Curry won, congrats to him, well deserved. Move on and lets all hope Harden wins it this year.
Both Curry and Harden deserved the MVP, no doubt. It was between those two the whole season and it the end, came down to those two. I personally think that Harden deserved it more, due to the circumstances, and that Curry definitely had media love/vote from Day 1, but Curry backed up the talk and had a great, MVP-calibre season. This season is where Harden needs to come out with the same fire and passion. Have another great season and he will be up for the award again.
Love his attitude and he's spot on about a full pre-season with the entire team. Assuming we have fewer injuries than last years horrid run, this season could be special. I'm pumped! Bring on the regular season already!!!
"They had an unbelievable team, coaching staff, everything." ===> Will's brain ===>"Steph had an advantage with a better team and coaching staff."
I wanted to dislike this rant by Harden, but he is saying everything the mainstream talking heads refuse to acknowledge. I don't like bragging (if this was Parsons, I'd be all over him), but it's good to get some early indications that this team is going to play with passion / a chip on their shoulder.
"Pride goes before destruction" There is alot to be said about humility. I get that he's young and confident, but statements like these usually dont do anything but further that "**** Houston" movement. Not that it really matters, but how about just going out there and whipping everyone's asses and act like you've done it before and chill on the show business stuff?
People still talk about Robinson vs Hakeem, decades later. Curry won because he does things like: * Make a lot of shots in practice * Bring his daughter to the cameras * Hi five before shots go in (I'm kidding.... partially.)
He didn't say it. He spilled it. "Credit the Golden State Warriors for an unbelievable year. They had an unbelievable team, coaching staff, everything. But that award means most valuable to your team." He's saying he, Harden, contributed more to the Rockets than Curry contributed to the Warriors. What he lists before that thesis (and after it, IIRC) are things that 1) were not contributed by Curry and 2) caused the Warriors to do so well that Curry eclipsed Harden in the minds of the MVP voters. If Harden's team were as good as Curry's team, Harden wouldn't include that in his list. But he does. However, on this particular point, the Rockets had injuries and the Warriors didn't, as he specifies in the interview. So Harden might be implying that the reason his team wasn't as good as Curry's was the injuries, not inferior talent. In the case of the coaching staff, this interpretation is ruled out. Coaches don't get injured. So when Harden lists the Warriors' coaching as a reason why the Warriors did so well and made Curry look better than Harden, he's implying that Curry and the Warriors had an advantage in that department. I should have said: This doesn't necessarily mean McHale in particular. But it's explicitly about the coaching staff. Harden is NOT trying to insult McHale. I'm not trying to start a quarrel here, and I understand that some of you may not want to read the remark this way. And I'm actually much more favorable to McHale, based on his terrific management of last year's midseason incoming personnel, than I was before. All I'm giving you is my honest best reading of what came out of Harden's mouth. He's just saying what he thinks, diplomatically. But when you speak honestly, sometimes you accidentally reveal parts of your thinking that you didn't mean to. And that's what happened here.
Gotta love what he said. And I totally agree, all of it is true BUT... He'll get a lot of hate for saying it lol. He always does.
the refs in the warriors/rockets series wouldnt let harden outplay curry, how many mvoing screens, and missed calls went againist the rockets in game 1 and 2
