Harden eligible for extension this summer

    This is great news, lets lock him in long term. Great to see the NBA making it more beneficial financially for players to stay with the team they are currently on. Hopefully brings some more loyalty.

    I dont know too much about salary and cap stuff but wouldn't that hurt big time paying a player that much money ?

    Superstars are almost always worth more than the maximum they're allowed to make so nothing to worry about. We'd probably give Harden 35-40m a year if we could.

    Very cool of the Union and League to make this special grandfather addendum for WB/Harden since otherwise they'd be screwed by their extensions in the summer. From the article.

    The league and union worked together on the Harden/Westbrook arrangement with the belief that neither player, nor the Rockets or Thunder, should be punished for honoring the spirit of the rules: encouraging players to remain with current teams on contract extensions. When those deals were negotiated to raise the players’ salaries and add extra years to the contracts, the teams and players were unaware that the new CBA would offer such substantial financial rewards for waiting another year.​

    Now where is DMo's special addendum.

    And then I'll use that money I didn't want to pay Harden to sign Enes Kanter. LOL

    They used that money on Enes Kanter instead of Harden!!!!

    New CBA says it won't because it gives teams who have rights to a player more leverage to make such moves without it impacting the salary cap

    So is our latest extension nullified? I need some info on what the new terms would be relative to the salary cap. I want James to retire here but I wanna know the intricacies of this decision

    LOL. so sad. OKC had a dynasty but they screwed it by not giving Harden the max. And now they are blaming KD for all their woe.

    It ain't KD's fault.

    It's your fault for not giving Harden the Max when you could have given him the Max.

    And then you gave all the Money you could have given to Harden to guys like:

    Kanter
    Adams
    Victor O.

    You paid those 3 guys ALL max or near max money and you didn't think Harden was worth the max.

    Don't blame KD!!!
