    Yup.

Casual fans said the same thing during the time of the David Wesley trade. He's the ONE.

    Jim Jackson. Reentering his PRIME.

Glen Rice. The greatest shooter of all TIME.

It's a new money coping mechanism.

Several of the other trades mentioned (Francis trade in 1999, TMac in 2004, Martin in 2010) ended up ultimately helping us do this deal.

    1999
Traded: Michael Dickerson, Othella Harrington, Antoine Carr and Brent Price, second round pick (2002 #45-Matt Barnes), 2003 first round pick (#13-Marcus Banks)
Got: Steve Francis, Tony Massenburg, Makhtar Ndiaye, Lee Mayberry, Rodrick Rhodes, Michael Smith

    2004
Traded: Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato
Got: Tracy McGrady, Tyronn Lue, Reece Gaines, Juwan Howard

    2010
Traded: Tracy McGrady, Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey
Got: Kevin Martin, Hilton Armstrong, Jordan Hill, Jared Jefferies, New York 2012 Pick (#16 Royce White)

    2012
Traded: Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, 2 first round picks, and 1 second round pick
Got: James Harden, Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook, and Lazar Haywood

Moses Malone hands down is the greatest Rockets trade of all time. Two NBA MVPs and an NBA Championship appearance and a HOFer. I love the Harden trade but he has a long way to go to achieve any of that.

this is not even close to the best Rockets trade of all time. hell...let's wait until the season is underway to see if it is even a good trade.

The Clyde trade was the best ever for the Rockets, bar none. He came back to Houston, a place where he started his college career and ultimately we became 2x Champion. The Harden trade can only top it if we become a dynasty, this is just a stepping stone. I don't think we are done yet, honestly I love Harden over Dwight because Harden has the IT factor and Dwight has the ME factor. So far, looking good. Hopefully, Harden can mesh with his teammates, no doubt he will with Royce White.

Let's hope you don't have to eat your words. I was never really a fan of Harden but the trade has happened and gonna have to deal with it. Hopefully he can get us deep into the playoffs once we can sign another all-star.

I like harden's game. He's not a transcendental superstar, but he can ball like a Mitch Richmond or ray allen type player. Not similar games, but talented 2s that can step up.

However, at this point, this doesn't come close to getting tmac in his prime, let alone Moses and Clyde taking Houston to the finals. In a few years, if Harden develops into a high end all star or MVP candidate, then you can talk. Right now it's a giddy schoolgirl statement that disrespects the past.

The only way this trade turns out better than the Moses Malone trade is if Harden becomes one of the ten best players of all time and brings Championships to Houston.

T-Mac trade was better he was considered a top 3 player in the league, global superstar, and was proven to be able to handle the load of being the first option.

I tried to look back at NBA draft history and, as best I can tell, the two #1 picks we swapped for Moses ended up being Ronnie Fields and Wally Lamp...

McGrady trade is the absolute best ever. McGrady at the time was a top 5 player in the league and we only gave away mobley and francis. That was the steal of the century. First couple of seasons with McGrady was pure dominance.

Appreciate everyone's comments--both positive and negative--I spent 25 years in the military fighting for your freedom of speech. So after being called "Baby Killer" I don't think a dig on my intellect will hurt me much. BTW, my MBA is from UT if any Aggies want to weigh in.

While I'll admit the McGrady trade was huge and he brought a lot of hope and change, but in the end we were just a good team.

I was sitting in the stands during Malone's Finals time--it was a lot of fun, but no championship.

Drexler was the greatest trade in my book, but as a guy that gets paid to be predictive--I'm betting JH will make us all (doubters and believers) very happy this trade went down. That's my humble opinion, maybe I'll be proven wrong and someone can punk this thread out in a few years.

    Cheers!

Anyone who says McGrady was the best trade in the Rockets history, knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about ROCKETS HISTORY.

Though, it was the correct trade to do and that it brought potential to the Rockets to be a contender, they never were contenders and McGrady never delivered and his Rockets career ended bitterly.

Clyde Drexler in one trade did more than McGrady did in his entire career for a team.

Moses Malone , Barkley, Kenny Smith, Otis Thorpe, all those trade were awesome.

Only time would tell if the Harden trade was great.

you sir, know about Rockets history. of course you do, cause you're a 99er!

However, Otis Thorpe (trade to get him) also brought us a championship and many years of DEPENDABLE play.

. A definite upgrade over Martin and I think Lamb has TMac light written all over him.Which is not a good thing.

He is still not a superstar though. but maybe now free agents will think twice when they see a solid core of Lin, Harden, and Asik.

LOL says the guy who didn't even know where the Rockets got their start. Hypocrite kettle calling out pots.

Unless you missed it, TMac played his ass off during our playoffs. Was it his fault that Yao had no idea how to deal with a front? Or that the rest of our team was scrubalicious? Seriously it was Tmac, Yao and the 10 dwarfs. Tmac single hadidly almost won us some series even though Yao's foot couldn't carry his own body weight. You sir are a moron.

Yes Clyde played well, but is it lost on you that the Rockets had THE BEST player in the world on their team at his absolete peak? Or that the Rockets were the DEFENDING champs? Yes they were struggling during that season, but I have NO doubt that Hakeem, and the crew would of given us a great playoff run.

Moses Malone didn't win us any championships either. That still is the greatest Rockets trade ever. Tmac is second. Barkely did nothing but ruin the teams chemistry, clashed with Clyde, and tore our team apart. He was a worthless trade designed only to compete with the Sonics. We lost Cassell, and Horry in that trade. That alone makes the trade a wash at best. We won zero championships, and his lazy play on Utah's pick and roll, eventually cost us that 97 series.
