We definitely need to make some adjustments to our lineups, this ain't working. I've been thinking about different combos and the #1 change I think needs to happen is taking Asik out as a starter. We are too slow and our offense is way too off-balanced which sets a bad pace for the game. Dwight and Harden demand double-teams which lead Asik wide open, and that's another problem since Asik gets his off dunks and put-backs, not wide-open jumpers. I was thinking Harden has the tools to be a scoring PG. Good ball handler and passer/assist man. Why not give that a shot? He loves the ball in his hands and seems to bring it up the court just as much as our PG's do anyway. What do you guys think about this lineup? Harden/Beverley/Brooks Garcia/Lin Parsons/Casspi Dmo/Jones/Smith Howard/Asik Obviously we could switch it up a bit where Howard and Asik would play together against certain teams and circumstances, and Harden could still swith to the 2 spot depending on who we're playing etc. but I think this lineup could be fast with a great inside out game with Dwight having a ton of touches with 4 shooters surrounding him, 2.5 of them are good slashers to the basket as well.
Are you suggesting he guards point guards too? Because he's already a point guard on offense. (Especially with Bev starting.)
You have to look at it defensively too. Can't envision Harden having much success on the defensive end with PGs when he's already struggling staying with SGs who are much slower than your average starting PG.
LOL, he already plays point for the most part minus bringing the ball up past half court sometimes. He can't even check Redick/Meeks/BLake......it'd be a disaster.
I'm thinking of the best 4 players to surround Dwight with. We would still have two 7 footers protecting the paint and it's not like we've been a terrific perimeter defensive team anyway. If we played zone I think it might work, it's worth a shot. Out interior D should be good and we would have parsons and Garcia guarding the perimeter. Harden would just have to guard the middle.
Never understand why people saying J Harden could be the "true" PG at the starting lineup. Yes he is a great passer and a willing passer, but a great passer is not equal to a great PG. There are just much more layers beyond great passing to define a PG position. My impression is that he has never been a great count general. The whole J Harden as a facilitator theory is totally built up on sand...the tow tower experiment is destined to fail, partially because of the above glassy theory...
This ! It's is levels on being a PG anybody can pass it's about being a floor general "unselfish" player, harden is not the man for that job he is a true SG... start with the coach u can change the lineups TT, have bev start, have Lin start, have Lin 6th man, harden PF, parsons 6th man etc. it won't make a difference without the right coach that can demand respect from his players and call the right plays. And MCFAIL is not the man for that job !
Harden is essentially the PG in the starting offensive unit with Beverly, he is the guy who is supposed to make that unit work. DD
Yes he is already the pg if you think bev dropping the ball off to Howard then running 1-2 feet close to Howard bringing his man to basically double team Howard (watch this in games) then bev going to set up on opposite corner three side which Howard has his back to him. Is not a PG. Or dribbling ball up liking around for 3secs then giving the ball to harden or the 3 is a pg then you don't know basketball
