With Ryan's mouth, it was almosta done deal for the jets to get it. Sorry @ss team. We'll see how they do next year. One plus is that now I don't have to get HBO.
Not to mention that they pretty boy Sanchez to follow around all day. Getting LT was just icing on the cake IMO.
Actually, hard knocks normally focuses on the fringe/bubble players and the rookies. The veterans and guys who are guarantee to make the team aren't compelling stories at all (unless they are coming off of an injury year). All that being said, its just a matter of time till u see a "hard knocks" curse being floated around as a reason why it's teams don't go deep in the playoffs (or make them at all).
That already exists. http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/1665/bengals-look-to-avoid-hard-knocks-curse
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6927922.html Mcnair tells Mcclain that we won't be on Hard Knocks this year. Also, the Jets and Texans specifically requested to play each other on Thanksgiving night.
No big loss IMO. It's a complete distraction that the Texans really didn't need. When the Cowboys were on it, the entire focus of the team wound up being about everything BUT football - something the Texans really cannot afford.
I never got hopes up too high of the Texans landing the gig in the first place, so its not that big of a bummer to me. It would have been cool though.
I can't believe that HBO went with the Jets - I mean who would make a better reality show, Rex Ryan or Gary "WILD AND CRAZY MF'ER" Kubiak.
That is one of the dumber things I have seen the Texans do. Why would they request that game? Do they not want their fans to watch? The Longhorns/Aggies will lock up just about all football fans in Texas, leaving that one of the Texans most unwatched games ever. It will be on NFL network to boot, while UT/Aggie is in prime time. It just seems like bad business. Mcnair will find out quickly his franchise will take a back seat to the college boys. It will be even more so if the Aggies can put something together and make the game mean something this year.
While it doesn't make a lot of sense from a local perspective, and certainly not from a winning perspective (playing a good team, defensive scheme that owns us, and going on the road on short rest), it is a prime opportunity for national exposure. A TON of people around the nation watch football on Thanksgiving, even if they aren't watching football religiously every Sunday. Besides people that still don't even know the Texans exist, there are still a lot of casual fans who just see us as a lowly expansion team still. Last years NFL network Thanksgiving Night game drew some pretty solid ratings. I wouldn't be upset at all if we didn't get it though. That game just seems un-winnable at this point, unless we are coming off of a bye.
exactly...locally people less people may watch but national is the key here. I do agree that i wouldnt mind not getting this game. It seems like the odds are against them.
