Deckard -- it's just me...i was the only one doing the complaining. i just see a long line of posts that are laughable when taken all together. bush = the destruction of everything good and noble. it's just so overstated...every thread starts with the gloom and doom scenario and ending with words like "quagmire." we're wrong in afghanistan...we're wrong in iraq...the whole country is falling apart...no one has jobs....i caught a cold last week....and it's all the president's fault.

it all seems a bit much to me.

Max, I see a long line of Bush Administration actions that are ditremental to the country. I wish they didn't just keep adding up, but from my perspective, they do. I'm surprised that true compassionate conservatives like yourself don't see a trend here and get at least a little exercised about it.

It puzzles me more than a little bit. I know conservatives in "real life" who are increasingly angered by some of the Administration's actions. Not all of it's actions, obviously, but more often lately they are getting upset with Bush.

Just keep an open mind and check some of the things out that you're tired of reading. Sound fair? :)

How is this different from the daily doomsday WMD carrying boats on the high seas threads that you started prior to the war? Doesn't really look any different at all to me just that you were more concerned with any report that would lead us to war instead of any post war report now talking about the aftermath of war.

That's OK Deckard, I know many of the conservatives you talk about here and they are all getting pretty upset about the Republican antics. I have heard several people tell me that if there aren't some pretty drastic changes soon, they might do the unthinkable and vote for a Democrat next year.

Heck, I haven't voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in over a decade, but I am strongly considering it now.

Deckard -- I'm with you...and honestly, a lot of what has been posted has raised some very real concerns for me. truly. i just think the message gets watered down a bit that way...and it tends to lose its import when it's thread after thread doom and gloom.

Timing -- good point...it's easier for me to see the speck in your eye than the plank in my own...that's why i said from the beginning that i recognize it may be my perception.

I have a brother in law, who did 20 years Army Rangers and still considers himself a staunch Republican, I guess. He tells me that he will vote for anyone but Bush.

He is so pissed off at the Iraq mess. BTW he still thinks Arnold Scwartk is great and enthusiatically quoted a poll which showed him ahead of Bustamante.

    Interesting field observation:

My daughter was recently in the Los Alamos Rodeo parade (don't ask). Los Alamos is, as most everyone knows, the home of the bomb and Los Alamos National Laboratory, a huge operation of $3 billion+ per year. Most of the work relates to defense and involves physicists and engineers. Los Alamos is about 60-40 Republican--they have a Republican State Rep and State Sen. and vote Republican on everything else. Lots of conservatives.

Anyway, during the parade, the "Bush for President" car comes through on the crowded parade route and what shocked me was that there were no claps or cheering. It wasn't even a smattering, it was dead silence.

Even the Kucinich car got a small bit of applause, but absolutely nothing for Bush.

Take it for what it's worth.
