They have finally elected a president through democratic means. The muslim brotherhood's own Mohamed Morsi. Unfortunately it seems that the military is still the real people in power and that this guy will have very little influence. In any case what do you all think? Everyone was so happy for the Arab Spring and now Egypt has elected a high ranking member from an Islamic party. I for one am happy they got to elect who they wanted and we in America shouldn't be angry about it.
I thoroughly enjoy reading the hypocrisy in some people. We invade foreign nations, spend billions of dollars and sacrifice human lives promoting democracy, and then when democracy has been implemented and the country finally has a democratic election we yell and pout about the results. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Hell . . .we rarely elect officials we want . . .why should any other country do it *grin* Rocket River
Not sure you know what hypocrisy means. I am happy they can vote I am angry they voted for the Muslim Brotherhood (this is the view of just about everyone in the civilized world). Nothing hypocritical there.
Congratulations! You just elected a terrorist sympathizer and warmonger! A great start to democracy! Woo hoo!
I feel bad for the Copts in Egypt. They'll likely continue to get marginalized and mistreated by the Islamists.
It's more about the fact that Egypt has a freely elected leader based on what I believe are non-ethnic grounds. If this had happened 80 years ago and been sustained the Brotherhood, Al Qaeda and maybe even Hamas/Hezbollah would have never been strategically relevant.
And as long as people continue to believe this garbage, Egypt will continue to remain an unstable mess.
