I don't think they can. I'm blanking out on the amendment. But Texas still has the right, from her treaty of union with the United States, to make herself into as many as 5 separate, smaller states. Given the Texan love of everything large (at least that's what my wife tells me ), it seems unlikely that we'll ever do it. Right now, I wish we had a State of Central Texas. We'd have a Governor, Legislature, Senators and Congressmen and women a hell of a lot more moderate than we have now.

No other state is allowed to, but my understanding is that Texas does have the right to secede and it was negiotiated that way when we joined the Union. I could be wrong though . . .
