Today Kelvin Cato turns 36! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gj1DV4bLogk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gj1DV4bLogk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Cato's best year i think was Yao's rookie year. He played pretty well as the big fella got acquainted. He was overpaid then, but think how overpaid he'd be in today's NBA with the lack of big men.
I think it was the year 2000 ... I was at Rockets training camp in Austin at St. Stephens school. Being a big fan, I was pretty much a kid in a candy shop at these things, just taking it all in ... but I was also there to get a story and quotes for ClutchFans, and approaching players was something I was below a novice at (and quite nervous about). I showed up for the morning session. I had not seen the board that morning, so I didn't know that Fran Blinebury wrote a scathing article for the Houston Chronicle about Cato. Blistering. Cato had decided to boycott the media, but hadn't actually told anyone that yet. So I get in there after practice and psyche myself up to approach a player. "Hey look, there's Kelvin over there sitting by himself..." Yeah, that didn't go well. I enjoyed his dunks and blocks though, and in fairness, he was pretty cool every other time after that. Just wrong place, wrong time.
Hmm! Wonder what he is doing now... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hNET5Sfvdjs?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hNET5Sfvdjs?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I was at the preseason game where he played so well and got the big contract. That was one heck of a game he played, he must have had 10 blocks...maybe he paid the other team off to let him dominate them! LOL
Hey in a couple of day it will be the anniversary of when I lost 1000 dollars gambling. You wanna celebrate that too since you are going that route.
He was Good beside Yao. He was like Chuck but with Height and not as good defense. Rocket River neither had offense except for . . THECATOMICBOMBDUNKS
