When I was a youth my dad would go to a sports bar on 146 near Bacliff that is now a strip club. He would get toasted while I would get 20 dollars in quarters and play SF2 and pool all night.
sagat hitting me with the tiger upper cut, vega jumping off cages and kicking me,blanka shocking and biting me,E.Honda with his 100mph smacking me,dhalism with his rubber band body parts beating me,zangieff doing wrestling moves on me,ryu and ken hitting me with the Hadouken and bison hitting finishing me off with the psycho crusher. one of the best games hands down
Which characters did you guys have the most difficulty against? These only apply to later fights where computer AI ramps up. Zangief - obvious cheap pound driver throw which can 3 shot you. Usually resorted to the backflip kick until he's dead strategy. Blanka - He had a fast jump, roll move can catch you off guard, his roundhouse kick had alot of range, and bite move could take off alot of life if you didn't shake out of it. Used a random jab strategy to defend against his roll attack. Otherwise fight as usual. Dhalsim - Annoying all around due to his reach. Worst is the noogie of death. Key is to be ultra aggressive with jump attacks. Ryu - Hits harder than Ken (or seemed like it). Too balanced and sometimes hard to attack. Sagat - Similar to Ryu but I think slightly easier as he has a big hit box. Have to take advantage of his tiger fireballs. Bison - Very fast and aggressive. Scissor kick was the worse move to defend against. Crazy that I haven't played SF2 in probably 16-17 years but remember AI tendencies.
It's all about street fighter 2 rainbow edition. So many WTF moments at the arcade <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0YsVHZqZXhg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
On SF2 Alpha at least, Ryu was easily the most difficult character. Just too balanced, and exquisitely timed attacks. Most other characters had some weak point you could easily identify and take advantage of. Ryu had none. After him was the dreaded Akuma, then Zangief.
Love Street Fighter. For the old foggies, anyone remember this OG Street Fighter arcade cabinet? I played Street Fighter on this for the first time at Fame City. lol
Great game, I bought a lot of the next versions on SNES: - Street Fighter II Turbo - Super Street Fighter II - other ones
Att-Uverse Sports did a nice little documentary on EVO 2012. I don't play Street fighter at all anymore but I love to watch the matches from time to time on youtube.
