So be Augustus Caesar instead... he lived until he was like 79 or something... a very respectable age back in the first century AD. He's easily one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known... that guy had some brains.

Julius Caesar was pretty badass though... do you realize how he became emperor? Mini history lesson: the Roman Senate was getting pissed at how much support this guy was getting. So they make him head of the army fighting the Gauls. "Come back when you've won!" They assumed that he could never do it, that he was going to die for sure; to completely defeat the Gauls was incomprehensible. Then Caesar did it. He marched back to Rome at the front of the Roman army... and the Senators were VERY surprised. :D

If I could be anyone, I'd be LBJ... he was a great president, except for the whole Vietnam thing. At least I'd get to stop all that in a more timely manner.

Either Genghis Khan or Suleiman. Both built their empires through fear and determination. I wonder what their lifestyles were and what type of person could unite a hodgepodge of people into a brutal and efficient army.

faith is a good thing, friend.

Only, I would stick to painting, and stay out of politics.

Millions saved, no WW2, yep, I would be Adolph Hitler.

    Modern Times - F.D.R

This man led the US out of the Great Depression and through World War II. Perhaps the greatest president behind Lincoln and Washington.

A close second would be Winston Churchill. Albert Einstein would be another awesome choice. Also it would be very interesting to be a close associate to Hitler, just to see how crazy he was and then assasinate him. Other notables : Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Alexander Graham Bell, Patton, McArthur, Al Capone, and Michael Jordan.

Ancient Times - An Egyptian Pharoah like King Tut or someone like Alexander the Great.

Also it would have been interesting to have been Isaac Newton, Galileo, Copernicus, or Gutenburg.

I would like continue being me. But if I had to choose I would be Marilyn Monroe.

Because in the immortal words of Butthead "If I had thingies like those, I would never leave the house".

This is the best answer I've seen, imo. I'm going with this. Sex? Solomon's got as many girls as Hugh Heffner. Money? Solomon's got as much money as... well, maybe not Gates, but he was the wealthiest guy around (in a rather circumscribed geographical and temporal plane). Power? Again, he wasn't ruling billions of people, but a couple of million ain't bad. Fame? Millions know who he is millenia after his death -- and not only in a negative light either. Art & literature? He's credited for Ecclesiastes, which is one of my favorite in the Bible, and Song of Solomon and Proverbs. Religion? I think saying he was pals with God is a bit strong -- he's not up there with David in that rep -- but at least there is no indication in the Bible that God was displeased with him despite his numerous sins. Plus, he had the wisdom thing and stability during his rule and plenty of children (that he probably didn't have to clean up after and feed and whatnot). The only drawback I see is a palpable feeling of emptiness late in life when he wrote Ecclesiastes, but it's not like I could avoid that in my own life. So, I'll go with Solomon too.

This is a great thread. I think mine would be a four way tie.

    1. Henri le duc de Montmorrency - He was a french noble, that was very noble. His wife managed to talk him into joining Louis' the XIII's brother in rebellion. He agreed even though he knew he would die. He fought bravely and was stabbed and shot a something like sixteen or more times before he was eventually brought down. He survived and was later executed I believe.

2.Anne de Montmorrency - relative of Henri's. Anne was perhaps France's greatest duelist. When an ordinance was past preventing him and someone else from dueling, he decided that instead of the original place set for the duel they would instead duel on grounds of the royal palace. They did this, and he eventually had to flee the country.

3.Sir Francis Drake - A Privateer, who lead the English to bring down the Spanish Armada, raided ships and towns in Carribean.

4.Black Beard - Super cool Pirate who enjoyed scaring people more than killing. He like Henri de Montmorrency took more than a dozen pistol and sword wounds before his head was finally chopped off.

Hammurabi - I would add in a bunch of weird, non-sensical laws just to mess with people. Plus you get all the perks of being King and whatnot.
