The odds are better that I am shot than that I shoot myself. I just heard about 12 shots go off outside.
Dude, you seriously need to think about moving out of that neighborhood.. Where exactly are you at? Is it possible to move?
I live in a mixed income neighborhood in a row home with classmates. Or at least it was 'mixed income' when I signed the lease. Now the block has gone to hell. The lease is not up until May. FML.
One of my brothers is a resident fellow at Hopkins. He lives on the Waterfront though. He rides his bike around town, and he said the second day he was there he locked his bike with a lock when he went to the grocery store and within 10 minutes his bike was stolen. The grocery store also had armed security in the parking lot. LOL. I've seen too much of The Wire. So stay away from the row houses.
Damn man.. Sorry about that. Try to stay safe, and start looking for new places as soon as May comes, if not sooner!
That's tough, man. I don't see how you could focus if you don't even feel safe in the place you call home. Well, if you're gonna stay there definitely protect yourself, but I would GTFO. I'm just on the other side of 83 in Mt. Washington. It's pretty quiet up here. I'm guessing you're getting your schooling at Hopkins?
Yeah, I am Hopkins Med. And I am moving to Mt. Washington or to the suburbs as soon as this lease expires. I mean honestly. Butcher's and Fell's has been going down the tubes. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/ma...i-teen-girl-shooting-20100825,0,1841723.story
Look up info on how to break a lease .. There are many different reasons you can do it and I will bet you can find one. That said ... Having some protection no matter where you live is not a bad thing
That's the kind of crap that scares the hell out of me when I think of Baltimore. It's a little better now that I'm here (I'm getting a Masters at Loyola, btw), but there is just such a bad rap on this city. It really does transform at night. I got one for you too, man. I had just come back from NYC also that night, mind you, at just about the same time as this kid. Freaked me the hell out. Hope it's not too near to you. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/20...ug-related-arrests-and-convictions-detectives
Azadre..get the G17, upsides: 17 rounds JIC...lower recoil than other major calibers, esp. 147 grain load. Practice with the least expensive centerfire pistol rounds available...Use hollowpoints, but they must state "bonded", Don't go cheap on defense loads...I prefer the heaviest round available per caliber... This is true on the .223 rifle round as well. The "heavy" 77 grain OTM loads have awesome field reports from the military... Another plus: The famous Glock recently came out with a 4th generation...Better grip (I got one), and adj. backstraps.
Didn't get to try out the G17 this weekend, but I did fire some of the crappiest Taurus handguns. The thing jammed at least 6 times.
Stay safe, Azadre. Can you look for someone to take over your lease, even if you take a slight loss on that? Sounds like you should move out of that neighborhood as fast as possible. Very sad story about the guy who got robbed and killed .
Try out any glock. They are all the same except the model 21 and 20 are larger grip. The .40 model will have more recoil and the smaller ones will not have a grip but they are all pretty similar. Better yet just buy your own. Do you have paperwork or anything to do, or can you just buy one?
