    glad you're enjoying it.

however, saying Israel needs to solve this diplomatically, is like saying the US needed to negotiate with Osama after 9/11. calling for a ceasefire now, is like the US agreeing to a ceasefire w/ Japan after Pearl Harbor.

There is work to be done first; then reasonable people on both sides can talk about what comes next.

see justificatoin folks had for invading afghanistan or iraq. It was the same response you gave.

Pearl harbor is a ridiculously flawed analogy here. The japanese empire and what ensued in no way has similarities to this. By that measure you can use any attack as "a pearl harbor"

I don't think the IDF should sit on their hands. But they have to have a real plan or else risk getting pulled under Hamas.

If we want our soft power to be more effective, we have to target the soft power funding Hamas. Iran is already on a leash in Western circles, although the sanctions regimens have had little to no effect on their ability to dictate affairs in their neighbors in part because their neighbors are actual failed states (Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan). Turkey, and especially Qatar, are able to support Hamas more openly and without reproach from the rich Western economies.

I am not afraid of Iran escalating this conflict because Iran only has ballistic missiles. I do think if Turkey decided to escalate by sending in a force through Syria, there is little we would try to do to stop them, and Israel would not be able to bully the Turks like they can the Iranians or the various Sunni or Shia militias/terror groups. But I also think the Turks are just talking to their domestic audiences and are not going to actually try to rebuild their levant holdings.

The sooner we enter the post-oil economy, the sooner we leave the Middle East for good.

I also feel strongly that the Israeli government needs to stop supporting settlements in the West Bank. The settlers are very confrontational and feel empowered to keep pushing out the Palestinians living in the West Bank. But the government supports them because the conservative voting block keeping the conservative government together by and large supports the continued expansion.

My vision is two states adhering to the 67 Borders with a land bridge between Gaza and West Bank, Jerusalem as a sanctuary city for both Israelis and Palestinians with protection for praying Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
Then one day in the future, living in Israel or Palestine would be like living in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, and both groups could freely migrate between the two states and both states would live in harmony.

*give the West Bank back to Jordan.
    *Israel keeps the Golan
*entice Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab/Palestinian states to take Gaza residents as refugees
*Jerusalem stays as the capital of Israel
    *Bulldoze Gaza

    Give Gaza to Egypt*

Gaza has been inhabited since antiquity. Its current state is not its permeant state, and I would not condemn it to any death sentences.

Though you have actual Arabs saying things like this:

I think Israel is better because of its non-Jewish citizens, and would be worse off it was a Jewish only state.

A large part of the Muslim mainstream in Europe (and certainly in the Middle East) agrees with her. They just ignore facts.
