This is so gross. It disgusts me that my tax dollars are helping to pay soldiers to shoot little kids or give Israel bombs they use amputating limbs off of children, and killing women and babies.

Senate votes against resolutions to block arms sales to Israel even as it continues to starve Gaza – as it happened

Ahead of a vote on the resolutions scheduled for Wednesday night, Sanders delivered his plea for the Senate to block $675.7m in bombs paid for by US taxpayers and the sale of tens of thousands of fully automatic assault rifles in front on images of starving Palestinian children. He also placed a large stack of papers on his desk with the names of 18,500 children who have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza published on Wednesday by the Washington Post.

“What the extremist Netanyahu government is doing now is not an effort to win a war; there is no military purpose in starving thousands and thousands of children,” Sanders said. “Let us be clear: this is not an effort to win a war; this is an effort to destroy a people.”

Sanders added that, by one estimate, 70% of the cost of destroying Gaza has been paid for by American taxpayers. He also noted that the arms sales clearly violate two US laws: the Foreign Assistance Act and the Arms Export Control Act.

“Tonight we have the power to act,” Sanders said. “The power to force Netanyahu and his extremist government to end this slaughter.”

“The mass starvation in Gaza must end,” Welch said in remarks after Sanders spoke. “The forced displacement of 2 million Palestinians in Gaza must end.”

“It is unthinkable that at this moment, when a third of Gaza has not eaten in days, the Senate would green light the bombs, guns, and munitions that have already been used to kill 60,000 Palestinians,”

Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. “Today, every Senator has a choice to make: they can uphold US law by preventing the transfer of these weapons, or they can cower to Netanyahu and hand over the arms being used to perpetuate a genocide.”

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday night, Sanders was asked if Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was lying when he said there is no starvation in Gaza. “Of course he’s lying,” Sanders replied. “He is a disgusting liar.”

That last quote sounds just like Trump too. No wonder Netanyahu handed his proposed Nobel Peace Prize to Trump as they shared praises of each other over dinner. As babies lay dying of starvation in hospitals, children were getting limbs blown off and gunned down seeking food at aid centers those two were making their own plans of enriching themselves over real estate ventures on the Gaza Strip. It's so gross. You cant justify war crimes and genocide.

it would be helpful if you cite the source of your article, or at least not obscure the url, so we can decide whether it's worthwhile, or safe, to click. as it is, it might as well be spam.

No idea what you are talking about sharing tweets about someone being my hero. Don't make presumptions because you hate that I hate seeing war crimes against humanity from any leader of ANY country.

Ive read numerous Holocaust books, and I was as mortified reading them as I am with what's happening to women and children in Gaza, and anywhere else in the world. I don't have heroes who turn a blind eye to crimes against humanity, genocide, or ethnic cleansing. I never have, and I never will. The denialists disgust me, pretending they are justified doing it, turning a blind eye to it, or supporting it. That might be the difference between someone like you and me, if you think war crimes against humanity are justified for any reason.

Him and the other boomers routinely expose themselves for the lack of knowledge they have on this matter. No real advocates for the Palestinian cause support Abbas due to his history of collaborating with the zionist regime. In fact, in the eyes of most Palestinians, Abbas and his party are the second most oppressive force in the region behind the zionist occupiers.

Trump is so disgusting. He really is. Hating war crimes doesn't mean you hate the people living in a country with a leader perpetrating war crimes. It's the same type BS Hitler used to brainwash his people into doing horrific crimes to serve his purpose.

This is an excerpt from one of the books I read called The Happiest Man on Earth, the story of Auschwitz survivor Eddie Jaku.

This excerpt is from the book about the infamous Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass....

It wasn't just Nazi soldiers and fascist thugs who turned against us. Ordinary citizens, our friends and neighbours since before I was born, Joined in the violence and the looting. When the mob was done destroying property, they rounded up Jewish people - many of them young children - and threw them into the river that I used to skate on as a child. The ice was thin and the water freezing. Men and women I'd grown up with stood on the riverbanks, spitting and jeering as people struggled.

'Shoot them!' they cried. 'Shoot the Jewish dogs!'

What had happened to my German friends that they became murderers? How is it possible to create enemies from friends, to create such hate? Where was the Germany I had been so proud to be a part of, the country where I was born, the country of my ancestors? One day we were friends, neighbours, colleagues, and the next we were told we were sworn enemies.

When I think of those Germans relishing our pain, I want to ask them, 'Have you got a soul? Have you got a heart?' It was madness, in the true sense of the word - otherwise civilised people lost.

I've read plenty of books with stories like this. It's horrific. What is the difference between the people in that story tossing Jewish children into icy waters to drown than an Israeli soldier shooting a starving child seeking food at an aid center? What's the difference between those soldiers than the Nazis who put Jewish babies in buckets to drown at Auschwitz, like in the book I read by Anna Stuart, The Midwife of Auschwitz? What's the difference between starving mothers, children, and babies in Gaza than Nazis starving mothers, children and babies?

History repeats itself and it's maddening to have to witness it in real-time.
