Hamas is evil for using human shields. They are also breaking international law by doing that. Israel, of course, doesn't control what Hamas does. It controls what its troops do. The Israeli military is also seen as evil by some and is likely breaking international law for killing civilians disproportionately. I don't see them as evil, but I see them as doing a very poor job at avoiding civilian casualties and as probably breaking the international law of proportionality. They do have the tools to be more effective at reducing civilian casualties. It is right to demand that they use those tools effectively to minimize civilian harm. It is wrong to not care about avoiding civilian casualties as much as possible when engaged in military operations. Minimizing civilian casualties should be a top priority and shouldn't be a controversial expectation. When Israel is seen (the media is doing a bad job here as a whole - you can thank social media-, but also the Bibi government in their failure to communicate) as not caring, it leads to the wrong thinking that they are not so different than Hamas. Those who push so hard to defend the IDF and advocate for them to "go strong" or refuse to ack they can do better, easily seen as not caring about civilians, are contributing to this wrong image. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/us-...aza-no-violations-arms-law/story?id=110107413 While the report says the Israeli government has "the knowledge, experience and tools" to implement "best practices for mitigating civilian harm," the high number of civilian casualties "raise substantial questions about whether the [Israel Defense Forces] is using them effectively in all cases."
It's not an issue when it is this mindset contributing to the incorrect thinking that the IDF is not so different than Hamas. US: While the report says the Israeli government has "the knowledge, experience and tools" to implement "best practices for mitigating civilian harm," the high number of civilian casualties "raise substantial questions about whether the [Israel Defense Forces] is using them effectively in all cases." ‘Lavender’: The AI machine directing Israel’s bombing spree in Gaza (972mag.com) In an unprecedented move, according to two of the sources, the army also decided during the first weeks of the war that, for every junior Hamas operative that Lavender marked, it was permissible to kill up to 15 or 20 civilians; in the past, the military did not authorize any “collateral damage” during assassinations of low-ranking militants. The sources added that, in the event that the target was a senior Hamas official with the rank of battalion or brigade commander, the army on several occasions authorized the killing of more than 100 civilians in the assassination of a single commander.
Now compare the ratio to that of wars the US have fought in the past (which weren't even in similar settings with terrorist taking human shields).
Perplexity or Poe is 85% better than what people consider sources here. The remainder is 0-day events where Twitter transmits random chaotic rapid fire thoughts as intended. Using twitter as a 24/7 news medium def shifts neural pathways. At the end of the day, we're all monkeys looking for the best banana. I still treat this forum as a place to interact with other people's ideas. We're all mostly American or living in America. Our differences are skin deep despite our best attempts at self segregating. It's a very interesting time to be alive. A technoanthropic 'Cultural' @zeitgeist so to speak..
Like when the US slaughtered the Indians? Or the nuclear bombing of two cities in Japan? We progress and we have new international laws, along with much higher resources and capability to minimize civilian casualties. I don't think any of us want to go back to those times of indiscriminate killing or bombing, when we have the tools to do much better. Again, minimizing civilian casualties shouldn't be a controversial expectation. And again, pushing it aside as a non-issue is the mindset that contributes to the incorrect thinking that the IDF is not so different from Hamas.
Even much more recent than that. Great to see how all the leftists have suddenly become armchair military strategists.
You aren't under a gag order. Do speak. Leave the hate out of it though, this isn't about me, leftists or whatever, but if you insist, there is a mirror for your projection.
Anybody that uses the Hiroshima /nagasaki example to describe the Middle East and need to exterminate Gaza is a straight ****ing idiot. If anything, the reverse and genocide of the Palestinian people is more applicable. It demonstrates a severe lack of critical thinking You’d have to have @ROXRAN level reading comprehension where you can’t even see where peer reviewed studies / objective data have come out saying 99% of the campus protests are asking for a ceasefire and don’t have any violence whatsoever but interpret them as “pro-Hamas”. Hell I don’t even support these annoying protestors it’s like this guy ignored what Gallant and other Israeli officials have said and he’s cheering for the rape/murder of children on a daily basis. Even Biden who has given more $$$ and weapons than any president to Israel is even laying some sort of line on certain** munitions. why can’t these people have the same love for our country that they do foreign ones? SMH
This is so dark but how can we be surprised the IDF would be the pioneer of taking advantage of maximizing collateral damage? It's amazing they can't understand why so many people in the world despise the governments of Israel. They're so desensitized to trauma (thanks to Hitler) and out of touch with reality that they think this is a technical conversation about war that people should understand. It's going to be awful when America stops needing Israel, like every friend the US military said it never would discard. When this is all over, the citizens of Israel are going to feel exactly how the citizens of Germany have felt since the Holocaust. Mass psychosis is usually followed by extreme submissiveness and guilt. Amazing the IDF just wants peace and safety but in the catastrophically failed process of getting those things for its citizens, the collateral damage is exactly equal to an unintentional genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign. What an amazing coincidence. It's like you drive drunk 40,000 times but didn't mean to kill the 40,000 people you ended up killing and now you are mad that people think you don't care about those people. Killing 10-15 innocent people to kill one single Hamas operative is a brutal crime - an operative who can be replaced within hours and trained in a month or two. And Israel knows it. They mass-incinerated his kids and wife and his neighbors in a densely populated area for that. For an operative that will be replaced before the innocent victims bodies are buried. All around darkness consuming that country. The Israeli and American protestors are the only hope right now of ending this trauma cycle. I wish them luck.
