Impossible to prove, but I think the selective outrage isn't about anti-semitism as much as it is about the successful use of social media by Hamas and China bots to influence an open society bombarded with misinformation. What's the stat? Most young adults get news from social media, with a large portion (like 1/3rd) coming from Tik Tok, which is full of Hamas propoganda pushed by China?
This isn’t a big deal- as much as they are trying to make it a big deal. First it’s propaganda - even the person recording is using it like propaganda “Those are missing children” when she knows damn well that no one is going to find them in NY. Second, contrary to what some think- how Israel has conducted itself the last 75 years has alienated a lot of people, especially Arabs. From apartheid to numerous human rights violations. Third, it was posted in public spaces and is a highly divided issue with extreme emotions on both sides. So the fact that Palestinians and their supporters rip the posters down doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Outrage against Israel over their treatment of Palestinians has been building for over twenty years. I am not surprised at the level of support amongst those Middle Aged and younger for Palestine. I am surprised somewhat that there has been less discussion of separation between Hamas and Palestinians.
Pro israel folks tend to get triggered but both hamas and Israel should b condenm for killing innocent people. I find pro israel folks hypocrites. They would cry and get angry at the death of innocent Israel and then attempt to downplay the rising number of innocent palestine being slaughter by Israel in retaliation. Being held hostage, rape is worse than getting missiles or starve to death? So many innocent kids are getting killed by israel but nah it's justified. I always wonder y if Israel cause is so righteous why the fk would they need to create fake news and disinformation to the public? Why would they not record what they are doing the palestine people?
I will say - I have a serious disdain for Islam fanaticism and how it is practiced in too many parts of the world. There are low key, more Agnostic and atheist Arabs in the USA than most people would think. I am friends with a few of them- they keep a very low profile because they don’t want some Islamic weirdo to attack them (yes I am serious).
I would say that from my own personal experience and observations - due to Islam extremism being more than a religion, but also a culture - and because of the extreme threat of violence…. Counting on a majority of Muslims to speak out against Islam hardliners isn’t very likely. There is going to be some sort of a continued collision course between Islam in the Middle East and Western Secularism. The Muslims in the United States over generations will acculturate and value secular values and culture over extreme Islam - but that takes time and there are tens of millions of Arab Muslims that support the collapse of Western Humanism. My opinions are controversial- in many ways similar to Christopher Hitchens on Islam the culture and religion… but just because I wish the world was ideal doesn’t mean that it is. The West, and especially the USA has largely done the Arab world wrong - but I really don’t relish living in a world where gays are thrown off pillars to die and women are beaten and chattel…. The West has a lot of issues, but we don’t need to go backwards.
Make no mistake - I have Palestinian friends, born in the Occupied region…. and there are a lot of Palestinians that hate Hamas, but they fear Hamas. They typically hate Israel too - as both Israel and Hamas have harmed the Palestinians.
What do you think about Ayaan Hirsi Ali and her husband, Niall Ferguson? I have a very strong opinion that they are heroes who dare to speak up, and they speak truth.
We know they don’t like the transgender but do they have to wear a burka if they are dudes who think they are women ?
I think very highly of Ayaan. I don’t agree with everything she says but I believe her perspective is very important and largely under represented. I also think that Islam has to realize that it is NOT beyond reproach and that it, like Christianity and Judaism is flawed and can be criticized. As for her husband, I don’t agree with how far he goes in his glorification of England and USA. I think he can be too much of a cheerleader- but I do believe he and his opinion have the right to be heard.
https://www.dci-palestine.org/2913_palestinian_children_killed_in_gaza_with_us_approval So let's, for the moment agree that the numbers are inflated, and that the terrorists baked an Israeli baby was baked in an oven. If instead of 3000 Palestinian children it was only "2000"? Is that okay? Or should we try a different way to rid the world of Hamas? And also should, whatever answer you post in defense of the death of thousands of babies, we should just keep reminding you and accusing you supporting the killing of thousands of children? Or is it possible that a person could be against Terrorists (which Hamas are) killing and baking children's but also be against the death of more than 2000 (which is less than the Hamas numbers) children killed? Is it wrong or is it perhaps even better to be against both of those things?
Hamas are the ones hiding behind civilians. Here's a moral dilemma, @FranchiseBlade: Someone shoots at you and your children (I think you don't have any, but just imagine). They hide behind their own children as human shields. Your choice is binary: Either you shoot back at them, at the risk of killing their children (even though you are trying to avoid hitting the children), to try to eliminate the threat. Or you and your children will be murdered, without any doubt. That's the situation Israel is in. My take is that the only way to deal with the situation is to eliminate the threat.
If you can't avoid killing more than 2000 children in less than a month, you aren't doing it right. That doesn't excuse anything Hamas has done. Either you are against 2000 civilian children being killed or you don't.
