But I don’t think I’d ever expect this either: This is not the combined armies of Egypt and Syria. This is Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization.
Just a horrible and tragic situation. Any use of civilians as targets or hostages is as awful as it can be. Unjust and discriminatory practices by those in power is tragedy, oppression, and breeds unrest and an incentive to use violence. Dishonest land grabs and evictions of residents is cruel and inhumane. Both sides need to stop doing all of the above as much as possible or there won't be peace. What a horrible situation.
Certainly not what I expected to wake up to this Saturday. This was supposed to be for Baseball. Not a massive flare up in the Levant.
This is beautiful, give F*k Israel a taste of their own medicine Free Palstaine is equal to Free Ukraine
Flat out, this is Israel's 9/11. Even the Yom Kippur War never touched Israel proper. All of the Egyptian and Syrian gains were in the Sinai and Golan Heights respectively. They never actually touched Israel proper. This on the other hand is a gigantic intelligence failure that has resulted in the worst attack on Israel's soil since the creation of the modern boundaries (excluding the occupied territories). Israel will justifiably respond and enter Gaza to takedown Gaza and reoccupy the territory. The failure of the Mossad and the IDF to catch this and respond will result in a political reckoning within Israel. I can only hope that Israel is more disciplined in its military and political response than the US was after 9/11. But I'd suggest that everyone avoid adding caveats about the mistreatment of Palestinians in reference to this. This is a terrorist group that launched an open attack on civilians. There are people being held hostage and an untold number that have been killed. Caveats about Israeli settlements to me are entirely misplaced. The focus simply needs to be on how bad Hamas is as an actor and everyone needs to make a distinction that Hamas doesn't speak for Palestinians. But if we start adding caveats and mild justifications, then you're basically playing into the hands of the far right in Israel.
This thread is very disturbing and I would caution those who want to see it but you can see first hand what's going on over there. Very graphic.
