If you have Halo 3 add me as a friend. My gamertag is MASTER CHIEFERS For those that have played the online multiplayer I have a couple of questions. I can't seem to figure out the matchmaking. Can you play a ranked game with specific options? Like if I want to play a CTF on a certain level. It seems with ranked games it just randomly throws me into a level and gametype. I have not found a way to look for certain gametypes and every time I set up a game I am the host. I would like to be able to play ranked games by looking for ones that I would like to join or at least being able to set up a gametype and have others join. Can anyone help explain how the matchmaking works? I hope it is not only where they randomly throw you in a level with random weapons and a random gameplay type. I tried everything I could but could not figure this out. Please tell me how to join a game without having to be the host. Has anyone bought the strategy guide? I wanted to but just could not bring myself to give up $20 for it. Is it in any way worth that much?
when you're in the matchmaking lobby, highlight playlist, click that then theres ranked and social playlists. i think the best you can do is from that list. i'm not sure how to even host a game
I got on last night to play a campaign with my bro and decided to take a glance at my friends list, most of them from here, and 9 guys were on playing halo 3. Its very possible we could all get a big team battle going at some point... and id definately be down if someone could schedule one.
last nite i tried to host but half the ppl i got i invited couldnt get in when i was hosting in social. o wells all i know this is better than gow any day.
no, I don't think you can specifically choose a map in Ranked play you know that's the whole point of Ranked play, is to get an overall skill rating...not to farm the same map over and over with just the settings that one person wants play the unranked Social games if you want that
Yeah I have done that where you can go to ranked and then pick slayer, objective, etc but when it is under ranked it seems that it is all random. I guess in ranked matches you can't decide the types of games you want to play. I think that is no good at all. I don't see why they would not let you host a game then pick what level, and gametype you wanted to play. I love CTF games and wish there were a way to play ranked CTF games whenever I want, but I don't think you can do that. It seems you have to be lucky and pick Team Objective and hope it puts you into a CTF game. Is this what you have noticed too FlyerFanatic? And every time I go to matchmaking and put ranked game and what type of game I want to play it looks for other gamers and ALWAYS says I am the host even though my connection last night was horrible. There is no way to look for certain game types is there?
well I love playing CTF games and wish I could play those whenever I want to on ranked. To me it is not so much the map rather the gametype. Last night it kept throwing me into games with only the warhammer as a weapon or with only shotguns and snipers. I didn't like a lot of the gametypes it threw me into.

oh I see you can figure out how to play multiplayer on Halo 3, but Street Fighter its too complicated! buy it dude.
