Haven't played it yet of course, but given the other responses in the thread, the high bitrate, direct feed HD videos playing on my TV did a good job of representing the game's visuals to me (certainly never saw any huge discrepancies in other games I played). Perhaps I'm piling on the "graphics are disappointing" viewpoint though. I'm certainly not trying to say it looks bad by any means (especially given the scale). Just that it is disappointing given certain expectations (fair or unfair). But I definitely disagree with anyone that thinks this is the best looking game ever, or anything even close to that. Read my posts again. I was talking about the graphics, not the game. I rarely, if ever, comment directly about a game's overall quality w/o playing it first. Given what I've seen from the reviews, the game seems really awesome. Might have even peaked my interest in the franchise, although I'll comment more on that on a later date. Guess you missed the Warhawk thread. Though I haven't played that in weeks...school is getting kind of busy.
There's not much difference, at least not in my experiences. Assuming I'm using HQ videos of course...and preferably a lot of them (think I got about an hour, maybe more, of HD videos just from Halo 3 on my HDD). I don't really see how this matters given that these videos provided me with an opinion that almost exactly mirrors those given in this thread already, from people who played the game. I wish I threw in a rating comparison in my earlier post since I would have given about the same rating for Halo 3 that KePow gave (though I was even leaning more towards 8.5 to 9.0 at most actually).
let me tell you about KePoW. He wants to play me at street fighter on Xbox Live, yet he didn't buy the game! then when I ask him to buy the game ($10 game), he said he needed to read the reviews. dude what the hell are you talking about...RC isn't the only one who is saying that Halo 3's graphics aren not the best of all time I just beat the entire campaign literally 5 minutes ago (check my Achievements if you like, my gamertag is 'kepow88'), and there is no way in hell Halo 3's graphics are better than Bioshock or Gears of War. and yes, I have a nice HDTV setup and know how to calibrate my home theater system. not that it would make a difference, since it's all a direct comparison between the three games on the same setup as I said earlier, I would rate Halo 3's graphics at about a 8.5, which is still classified as great. Bioshock to me is the best looking game on the 360 at the moment. Gears of War is technically better than Halo 3...however I prefer Halo 3's overall artistic style a lot more, cause Gears has absolutely no variety in its environments at all which makes it boring to look at IMO just cause everyone is saying the graphics in Halo 3 aren't mind-blowing doesn't make that a slam against the game. that's only one aspect of a video game. Halo 3 is absolutely worth buying, the MP in it is seriously awesome with a bunch of stuff to do. and the Film and screenshots archive features are sweet as for the SP campaign, it's pretty good...just more of the same IMO, so I wouldn't categorize it as super incredible or innovative or anything. it's a lot better than Halo 1 at least, I couldn't stand Halo 1's repetitive Library levels. I'd rate the campaign like a 9.0 but MP is where Halo 3 will make its living...a full 10 rating for that
LOL dude I told you I had the demo, who knew you couldn't play MP on that? I didn't know I had to buy the game. 10 bucks seems a ripoff for a super old game like that, I don't like playing old games...I'm too much of a graphics w****. that's why I don't get those people who buy all those classic games off Live Arcade or Wii's Virtual Console, etc, that **** is boring as hell to me I'd totally go Dhalsim on your ass anyway

I'm not one saying that the graphics are the best of all time, far from it. Here is the comment that bugged me: It's the negativity towards the 360 and it's games just because it isn't the PS3. And no, you can't watch a video and get the same experience as playing a game. RC is making judgments and opinions about a game that he's never played and is on a console that he doesn't own.
I disagree...watching videos of the game tells you plenty about the graphics. You dont get a feel for the actual game play, but visually speaking, you get enough to be able to compare to other games.
how exactly are you going to beat me at street fighter if you don't have the game? explain please. don't say you play street fighter if you don't own it. people who are true to the game buy it. there are plenty of people who play online. i think you are just afraid. you can't play multiplayer against people in japan, uk, usa, mexico, and canada on wii console. there's tons of dudes on xbox live play sf2t. its the best sh#T next to halo and gow.
the graphics arent bad, they're good. besides that, since when is halo about the graphics? its the multiplayer that makes the game, and it does a hell of a job in that department
I own Halo 3, GOW, and the BioShock Demo. I have a 42" 1080i LCD HDTV and imho Halo 3 is not even CLOSE to the graphics of GOW. I don't think there is anything out there close to this game graphically on a console. That being said, Halo 3 is alot of fun , especially the Multiplayer. I still don't understand the hype behind this game with so many great FPS games before it. Anyone played Unreal Tournament? IMHO, it's better than Halo.
The original UT is probably my all time favorite...me being in college at the time probably has a lot to do with that.
You people that are getting your panties in a wad over the criticism of Halo 3's graphics need to realize that that debate started because newplayer made the comment that they were better than Bioshock's. Most people aren't ragging on Halo 3 as a game, just arguing with his viewpoint. Holy crap, I have no doubt in my mind that 99.99% of the people that bought Halo 3 and played it are more than happy with the purchase, great graphics or pretty good graphics or whatever. It was just kind of an odd statement to make and so people jumped on it. The game is freaking awesome.
