You mean their not sold out? Sigh. I mean...oh...good. I'll pick mine up Friday...when their out. D'oh!

 

Halo 3 just doesn't have the selling power of the PS3.

 

FYI : they're predicting that Halo 3 will be the biggest 1st day product release ever... surpassing Spidey 3(?), the iPhone, and Harry Potter #7...

We'll see... the target is $200 million in first day sales.

 

Probably doesn't count since this is Japan, but I think something like 2M-2.5M copies of Dragon Quest 8 were preordered, with retailers charging around $80-$90 for it. Don't know where it ended up officially, but it was probably pretty close to $200M (if not past it).

 

I don't understand this line of thinking and I see it quite a lot.

Exactly what is there to lose in putting down a part or all of what it costs for the game you really want in advance? I preorder the few games I REALLY want (Madden, NBA2K, and the very occasional game like Halo) and it assures me that I will get my copy when I want to get it. Whether there is an over run of copies or not, it doesn't matter. I didn't "succumb" to anything. Your statement makes it out to be that I am some mindless drone who was hoodwinked into some scam.

You walked in a got a copy. I payed my $5 a few months ago and got my copy today as well. Exactly what is the difference?

 

I was at Costco today and they had Halo 3 for $49.99 and it seemed like they had a ton of copies!! I don't have a 360 but I was tempted to buy the Halo 3 bundle.

 

Are you kidding me? I think the graphics are at least OK. I guess if you love Rare's kiddish colorful theme then more power to you. Seriously, go play GOW then get back at me. The thing I dislike about Halo is that its not dirty and gritty enough(GOW,COD,Oblivion..etc), and for that I reason I can't get into it. I was hoping it would get nastier in part 3 but its basically Halo 1 and 2 all over again. Pathetic, considering how KZ looked. For the record, Bioshock is a much better game with a darker theme which I like. COD3 will kill all FPS when it comes out....

 

Yeah, newplayer. I finally got to play Halo 3, and I gotta say, I'm not sure where you are getting the notion that it is better than Bioshock, graphically. It's really not even close, by my viewpoint. Lots of fun, though. I need to start screwing around with Forge tomorrow.

the graphics are nowhere close to as good as gears of war. that said it still looks good and of course plays great.

so far it's everything i expected it to be: fun.

 

Assuming you meant COD4, but I agree with you there (at least in terms of visuals on console FPS games). I still kind of laugh at MS showing off a live demo of COD4 right before showing off the first SP footage of Halo 3 back at E3. Had they not showed COD4, Halo 3 probably would have looked a lot more impressive.

It would probably be disappointing even w/o Gears, although that game certainly didn't help.


I will say that despite what I (and some here) think, some (major) reviewers did seem to give high scores (9+) for the the graphics, which I can't really understand. Well...maybe under one circumstance, but I'm hoping that's not the case.

 

why are people hating on halo 3's graphics? they look great. its a different art style than gears of war. but gears of war isn't about a massive amount number of enemies, space ships flying all over the place etc.

all of you halo 3 haters, go find yourself someone with a HDTV and proper 5.1 setup and play it. stop this ANALOG NONSENSE.

who cares? its about how fun the game is. plus Crysis people are geeks with $2000 computers with like 10 video cards.

 

RC Cola doesn't even play online games. That's a blind guy going to a strip club and judging which girl looks best.

 

I think the graphics are pretty damn beautiful...not gritty like Gears of War of course...but then they're not supposed to be.

I don't know what people expect...Bungie has picked up right where Halo 2 left off...and that's a good thing...frankly it'd be quite stupid to go and change the formula for Halo's success now...stick to what works and make some minor tweaks to take that next step in the series...and that's what they've done.

I haven't gotten too far into the game, but already I love what they've done w/ the Brutes...the new weapons I've encountered so far are nice...the needler has finally gotten it's just due...the pistol is a little more powerful...could actually care less about the Halo 1 battle rifle as I prefer the Halo 2 assault rifle. The shield dome is a nice edition..the environments a great so far.

And frankly, this is exactly what I was waiting for when I bought my 360 a few weeks ago...I was tempted to get Bioshock or Gears of War...but ultimately I decided against both because for one, in a FPS shooter, I want some kick ass weapons to just start shooting the s**t out of things and Bioshock clearly did not look like that type of game (doesn't even look like you could consider it a fps) and I hated the 3rd person view and squad based, cover action of Gears of War (I like to go my own way w/ full guns blazing thank you...don't wanna worry about keeping friendlies alive).

 

No, it's the fact that he will take any chance to crap on the 360. If you haven't played the game and don't even own a 360, you have zero room to talk about whether it is great or not. You have NO basis from which to form an opinion.

 

i also don't care about the 'xbox isn't doing well in Japan' argument.
I dont care about Japanese games, I'm not Japanese!
